In response to the outrage at the Leftist Congress that has been voiced by ordinary Americans in Town Hall events around the country, the Democrats have opted – typically – not to address the peoples’ concerns, but rather to demonize those who get in their way.
President Obama’s first 30 some-odd days have not been something to write home about. Of course, he did inherit a financial crisis, but he’s clearly made it worse with his Jimmy Carteresque doom-and-gloom talk.

Candidate Obama chose to be friends with William Ayres, the unrepentant terrorist. Yet, the leftist media thought it was more important to “vet†Bristol Palin’s boyfriend’s family.
Upon taking office, President Obama will push hard for the ridiculous (for Israel) “Saudi Peace Initiative”, which asks for Israel to give up land it won in the 1967 war, in return for peace with the Palestinians and other Arab neighbors yet to make peace with Israel.
Obama must have gotten a pit in his stomach when he saw Cindy McCain get out of the car with McCain. The McCain couple made everyone think “where is Michelleâ€? ( You know, she of the “I’m-not-proud-of-my-country”, Michelle!).
People in America feel safe. If they didn’t, a leftist newcomer with little experience – like Barack Obama – would never be considered for the presidency.
Actress Sally Field won an Oscar in 1979 for playing a union organizer in “Norma Rae.” Six years later, she won the same prized-award for her role in “Places in the Heart,” her acceptance speech earning its own special place in sound-bite history:
No matter that Obama can’t get the white vote (no matter what he spends); no matter that Reverend Wright is a loose cannon ready to appear at his own whim; no matter that Wright has already told us that Obama was in the pews for 20 years listening and soaking up his America-hating rants (by saying that Barack denies it by calling him a “politician”).
The decades-long doom-and-gloom narrative of the left started with the assassination of JFK in 1963, was reinforced by MLK’s assassination in 1968, and was tattooed into their collective consciousnesses with the assassination of RFK only a few months later.
He has passed no significant legislation, is head of no official movement, has never run a business and, until he gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, barely anyone had ever heard of him.
In 1974, an aging Muhammad Ali was facing the much stronger George Foreman in a bout that came to be known as “The Rumble in the Jungle.” Entering the ring Foreman, while not particularly popular was, by all accounts, the big odds on favorite not only to defeat Ali but to knock him out early and humiliatingly.
When you really think about the crop of Democratic candidates for president, it’s clear that their best hope to win in 2008, is not even on the playing field. That current, non-candidate is Al Gore. He’s the only one who can match the experience, accomplishments and gravitas of Rudy Giuliani and yet, the left ignores him.
The Democrats’ personal hatred towards President Bush – in light of the objective successes of his presidency – make clear the sad fact that they would rather see America fail if that failure made the president look bad.
Since John F. Kennedy was elected president in 1960, Democrats have placed a far higher value on style than substance. Today, a Democratic candidate must have “rock star” status to be considered a viable candidate. In fact, that is what the top three Democrats for the 2008 nomination – Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Obama – have all been called at one time or another.
Barack Obama is only a viable presidential candidate because of his multicultural sounding name, not his political ideas. If he has any ideas that are unique, please tell me what they are. Ah, yes, leaving Iraq by March of 2008, his version of cut and run. Ho hum. Who can deny that if his name were Joe Jones, David Geffen and the Hollywood sheep wouldn’t be falling all over each other to have fundraisers for him at their carbon-neutral homes? The fact is that the left FEELS better when it promotes multiculturalism and Obama’s name is shorthand for that ideology. So little experience does Obama have in the world of big-time politics that it occurs to me the only “audacity” I associate with him is not the title of his latest book but those who take him seriously as a presidential candidate.
President Bush spoke softly last night but carried a big stick. The message was clear: if Iran and Syria assist the insurgents in Iraq, they will be engaged. Now, you and I know that Iran will continue to engage American troops and try to disrupt our mission of stabilizing Iraq. And why not when it has the American leftist media as its ally, broadcasting our “failures” day in and day out?
The Democrats must be feeling pretty good about things right now. They have waged a one-note campaign about the stupidity of George W. Bush since he won the 2000 election and their victory in the 2006 midterms finally, to them, validated their most passionate “position.”
It’s disheartening that many on the Left’s interpretation of last nights significant Democratic victory (and I offer my heartfelt ‘congratulations’) is that they are taking back the country from the “fearmongers”. Did it ever occur to them that there is something to fear?
The economy is purring along, the stock market hits new highs daily, and 95.6 per cent of Americans are employed. But if the Left attains power in the upcoming midterms, they will raise taxes, effectively ending the very favorable economic environment in which we find ourselves. This is just one example that helps makes clear that the midterm election is a choice between the common sense of the Republicans and the nonsense of the Democrats.

Iran is building a nuke to wipe out Israel, which its fanatical leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, insists has no right to exist. But liberals remain mute about his ravings, preferring to savage President Bush. Shameful. Hugo Chavez viciously derides the president in the pulpit of the United Nations and all liberals can do is remain silent. Is it because Chavez’s words so closely echo their own? Shameful. Even uber-liberal Rep. Charles Rangel’s defense of the president against Chavez’s verbal rampage was a damning with faint praise. “We have problems with our president,” Rangel said. Did he mean the 62, 040,606 Americans who voted for President Bush in 2004 – THAT “we”?
President Bush’s approval ratings in the polls continue to be mired in the low 40s. Many Republicans up for reelection are keeping their distance from his policies on the Iraq war. Pakistan has granted safe haven to Osama bin Laden. Even a well-publicized movie at the Toronto Film Festival is about his imagined assassination. These are tough days for our 43rd president.
A prime example Democrats cite to depict President Bush as inept in keeping America safe is that, after five years, “we haven’t gotten Osama bin Laden.” It’s one of Nancy Pelosi’s “go to” themes, as if the Democrats – if elected to a majority – would immediately “get” the world’s number one fugitive. How conveniently she and her minions forget that Bill Clinton failed to snag bin Laden during his entire presidency, when the mass murderer was much more out in the open.
