Yesterday we lost Richard Jewell, the former security guard wrongly identified as being the Olympic Park bombing suspect in 1996. Jewell was unfairly maligned, dissed and mocked and I have to admit I played a role in all that.
Today’s front page headline in the Los Angeles Times screamed out, “Vick To Plead Guilty” followed by the requisite op eds calling for his head. One Atlanta politico even suggested an “eye for an eye”. So what would that entail, kind sir? Greasing Vick up, placing him in a pen and letting him go three rounds with a pit bull?
Ah, time for the Academy Awards. A ceremony lasting roughly two months where we honor excellence in the Democratic Party, I mean, the motion picture business.
Did you see Hillary Clinton campaigning in Iowa the other day? More importantly, did you hear her campaigning in Iowa? Was it my imagination or was she trying to speak Iowan? Talking in contractions, affecting a “flat accent” Hillary appeared to be attempting to bond with people in the Hawkeye state by mimicking the way they speak.
America has become a self help culture. When in doubt about what moves to make we turn to self anointed self help “gurus.” Some of the more annoying self improvement mavens place questionable titles like “PhD,” “Dr.” and “El Swami” in front of their names.
Right now the biggest problem faced by the Democrats is what to do with John Kerry. After the recent snafu they’re no doubt planning to keep him out of sight and under wraps until after the election. Not the mid term election. The presidential election. Of 2016.
