Hi friends - yesterday I posted the suggestion of reading something together as a family at the dinner table as a way of pulling the family togeter during mealtime.
Did your mother say things like mine “no reading at the dinner table”? I’m reversing that advice. We’ve all heard how important it is to get our families togeter for dinner a few nights a week at least. Sharing a meal together has a great impact on kids. I’ve found that one way to pull my family together at mealtime isn’t with my cooking! The kids suffer through that, I’m afriad. Nor is it with anybody’s “sparkling conversation.” It’s great to have discussions, and we do. But with one adult and 4 kids of very different ages (6 to 13) those conversations aren’t always spell binding and/or they require a lot of moderation on my part which can be draining.
Today, “Independence Day,” I’m inaugurating a new feature. The Daily “parenting tip.” As a mom of four young kids, I may have more to share with you as a result of my mistakes rather than my successes! But kind folks have repeatedly asked me to share some insights on a regular basis. So every day (but Sunday) I’ll post a quick tip here. Please check back daily, share with your friends, and most importantly share please share your parenting tips with me and my readers!
Hey friends, it’s back to summer and that means I’m back to blogging. Hope you’ll visit and share YOUR thoughts. A thought about the local neighborhood pool and kids and obesity:
