With the Democrats taking total control in Washington, thanks to winning both Senate seats in Georgia run-off elections, Americans may have good reason to fear threats to freedom and capitalism.
Based on what Joe Biden and other Democrats have pledged to do, and taking them at their word, it’s possible this country will be unrecognizable by this time next year if not sooner. As New York Senator and incoming Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “Now we take Georgia, then we change America.”
There are “Republicans in Name Only” in Congress (RINOs) but few if any DINOs, so the Democrats will be united in achieving their America-changing goals, while the Republicans will be fragmented in opposing them, to the extent they have the courage or will to do so. West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin has sometimes talked the talk of a contrarian, but cannot be counted on to walk the walk.
The first order of business, as Schumer has hinted at, will probably be to abolish the Senate filibuster, allowing the Democrats to pass any bill with a simple 51 vote majority, which they will have thanks to president-in-waiting Kamala Harris casting the tie-breaking vote each time.
High on the Democrat’s post-filibuster agenda may be packing the Supreme Court, adding four to six new justices, all leftists of course. Any issue brought before the court that would be favorable to conservatism, individual liberty, religion, gun rights, etc. would be doomed.
Then there’s the apparently planned addition of two new states, D.C. and Puerto Rico, both leftist bastions, meaning four more Democrat senators (or six if Guam is added) and possible permanent Democrat Senate control, freeing Harris up to concentrate on any Oval Office redecorating plans.
The Democrats will also likely move to gut the First and Second Amendments, raise taxes, reinstate onerous regulations, end the use of fossil fuels (”Green New Deal”) and take other actions that would cost millions of jobs, cheered on by an approving, propagandist, leftwing “We’ve got their backs” media.
The coup de gras of course, in addition to opening the border, is Biden’s intention to grant citizenship to the 20-million illegal aliens already in the country. If done, whether in time for the elections in ‘22 or ‘24, their overwhelmingly Democrat votes in election after election would mean the end of the Republican Party, with Donald Trump being the last Republican president.
President Reagan said, “If we lose freedom here there is no place to escape to.” It would appear we are, after almost 245 years of history, approaching that point. I live in California so I know what the unchecked power of a Democrat one-party state is like. All Americans may soon know a one-party country.
My hunch is that no one, not even a science fiction writer, could have imagined that two down-ballot elections in a single state has the potential to forever change the United States of America.
