Sometimes political events have immediate impact on all or some of the populace. For example, the day after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election the stock market went up, positively affecting the IRA and 401-k retirement accounts of millions of Americans. The economy started to improve even before he became president.
The apparent election of Joe Biden has had an immediate negative result, thanks to him hinting during the campaign that as president he would lock down the country because of the virus. He has since said he will not impose a nationwide lockdown, but because politicians have occasionally been known to lie, there is much skepticism.
So much in fact that hoarding has already begun. As of this writing, my local Safeway supermarket is out of toilet paper and low on other essentials. So, the opposite of Trump, Biden has had an adverse impact on the country even before he becomes president. It’s very simple:
A Trump victory: No lockdown and no hoarding and shortage of supplies.
A Biden victory: Fear of a lockdown with hoarding and a shortage of supplies.
The fact it is already happening because of Joe is just a preview of the hardships that will be inflicted on Americans, including even Democrats, who presumably also have a need to go to the bathroom. It’s fitting that toilet paper should be a symbol of the apparent incoming administration whose policies would send this country down the toilet.
