Looking in the dictionary under the word “chutzpah” and the word “hypocritical” we find this recent JTA report: “The head of the Palestinian Olympic Committee called the campaign to hold a minute of silence for the 11 Israelis murdered at the 1972 Munich Olympics ‘racism.’”
Is he freaking kidding?
In a letter written to International Olympic Committee head Jacques Rogge, this Jibril Rajoub guy reportedly wrote that “Sports are a bridge for love, communication and the spreading of peace between nations and should not be used for divisiveness and the spread of racism.”
So, he’s suggesting that a minute of silent reflection for those murdered at the Olympics would create divisiveness and the spread of racism and interfere with “a bridge for love, communication and the spreading of peace between nations.”
Unlike taking 11 athletes hostage and murdering them, which is not divisive at all. Nothing says love and peace like a bloody massacre, I always say.
Frighteningly, this Rajoup and Rogge appear to be on the same page, and I’m sure this bizarre letter will make perfect sense to a man who has declined numerous requests to hold the minute of silence at the opening ceremony of the London Games on Friday.
It must be recalled here, that it was Palestinian Arab terrorists who were responsible for the Munich murders.
And in an interview with the French news agency AFP this week, Rajoub, evidently not hampered by the weight of the incredible hypocrisy inherent in his statement, said that “sport in Palestine is a means to achieve national goals” as well as “a tool of struggle to present the Palestinian cause.”
So, to recap, the Palestinians say that, what was arguably the most political incident and certainly the bloodiest, ever to taint the modern Olympic Games, which clearly was designed as “a tool to present the Palestinian cause,” is a good excuse for not recognizing its innocent victims with a moment of silence.
Obviously, the Palestinians are trying to squeeze even more propaganda mileage out of their terrorism. Goebbels would be so proud.
