Few would argue with the premise that smoking is not healthy and that it would be a good thing to prevent children from taking up the habit.
However, the Palestinians, always, as we know, on the cutting edge of social reform innovation, have embarked on a campaign aimed at getting their children to substitute lethal weapons for cigarettes.
And the failed experiment called the United Nations is sponsoring that effort, which calls on Palestinian children to take up arms against Jews rather than light up.
This is not the first case in which Western aid money has been used by the Palestinians to promote violence. Not long ago, you might recall, the Palestinian Authority-funded and UNESCO-backed children’s magazine Zayzafuna, published a fictional submission by a teenage girl who said Hitler was a good guy because he killed Jews to help the world.
UNESCO stopped funding the magazine only after the article was publicized overseas.
Today, there is a letter circulating by email and on Facebook and elsewhere that aims to shame the United Nations, which, I’m afraid, is way past the ability to register such a feeling, to stop funding the Machine Gun Puppets.
You might want to check out the online video of this hair-raising, offensive children’s Punch and Judy-like puppet show, in which diminutive audience members are told that their people need them to take up arms against the Jews instead of killing themselves with cigarettes.
It’s another example of the Islamist tendency to pervert even the most inoffensive thing into a tool of abuse and destruction.
How does one group of people get so many things so horribly wrong?
Anyway, the letter to the United Nations, addressed to Secretary-General Ki-Moon, says that with a charter saying its purpose is “… to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war… to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom…” the organization might want to consider discontinuing funding programs like The Burj Luq-Luq Social Center Society’s which teach Palestinian children to pick up machine guns.
“The United Nations must stop funding programs which teach children to become terrorists,” it says.
And, of course, it should, but it doesn’t and it won’t. I think, maybe, appealing to the United Nations’ members’ better nature is a lost cause. Even if it backs off this time under pressure, I doubt it will be the last time the U.N. helps fund efforts to kill and disposes the Jews.
Even if this latest abomination stops now, a certain amount of damage has been done, which, added to the cumulative mental and emotional warping intentionally inflicted on Arab children in “Palestine” and elsewhere for years, pretty much dooms the planet to dealing with its effects for generations to come.
It has been reported that “a multitude of terror-glorifying messages including ‘streets, schools, sporting events and more [named] after Palestinian terrorists who have killed hundreds of Israeli civilians,” have been found permeating Palestinian Arab society – a reality the U.N. is not even trying to address, so busy are its members dreaming up condemnations of Israel.
And “with suicide bombers presented as role models, encouraging Palestinian youths to violently cut their own lives short,” some wonder, why bother with an anti-smoking campaign?
An excellent question. It’s not logical. But, then, logic has never been the driving force behind Palestinian Arab behavior.
