Persistence, patience, complicity in high places, key to successful propaganda

In its reporting of the recent bomb attacks on Israeli diplomats in Georgia and New Delhi, the Associated Press makes it sound as though Israel is accusing Iran of wrongdoing without evidence, perhaps as an excuse for going after it militarily.A diplomat’s wife and driver and two others were injured in the India blast, while a similar device was discovered in Georgia and safely diffused.

“Iran denied responsibility for the attacks that appeared to mirror the recent killings of Iranian nuclear scientists that Tehran blamed on Israel,” A.P. reports.

The AP story properly notes that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran of being behind the attacks, calling it  “the largest terror exporter in the world.”

The story also properly notes that Iran has been accused of developing a nuclear weapons program that Israel says threatens the existence of the Jewish state, and that Tehran, a huge oil-producing state, insists is for peaceful, energy-generating purposes only.

What the story fails to mention is Iran’s fairly constant drum-beat about wiping Israel off the map and annihilating the Jews – an oft-repeated and recently reiterated threat that rightly makes Israelis nervous, particularly when coupled with the Islamic Republic’s relentless drive to attain nukes and the systems to deliver them.

Failing to mention this minor detail leaves readers with the impression that Israel is over-reacting to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

And worse, the story goes on to say that “comments by Israeli officials in recent weeks have raised fears Israel might be preparing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities,” without this context, leading readers to conclude that Israel and not Iran is the international loose cannon and worldwide threat.

And this, I believe, is precisely the plan.

The story notes that “fearing an Israeli attack could set off a conflict across the region and send oil prices skyrocketing, U.S. and other Western countries have been pressing Israel to give sanctions more time.”

I guess having the roiling epicenter of Islamo-Fascism use a nuclear device against the Jewish state would not “set off a conflict across the region and send oil prices skyrocketing,” so we should wait until then to react.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials say that bombs that exploded in a Bangkok house the day after the attacks, were being prepared for a large-scale attack against an Israeli target.

An Iranian national, who shared the home with two other non-Thais, had thrown a hand grenade at police as they pursued him following the home explosion, but did not throw it far enough and was caught in the blast, which tore off his legs, according to reports.

Last month, 400 boxes of bomb-making material were found hidden in boxes for electric fans in a shop near Bangkok. Police learned about them from a Lebanese man arrested Jan. 13 who was alleged to be working with Iranian proxy Hezbollah to plan a bombing attack. He reportedly told Thai police that the material was to be smuggled out of Thailand and used in an attack in another country.

Who’s the destabilizing influence in the region again? Ah, that’s right, Israel. Sure.

While noting that Israeli officials have thwarted attacks in recent months in Azerbaijan, Thailand and unspecified other countries, the story does not suggest that blowing up Jews worldwide might be construed as a provocation of any kind.

“In all those cases, the elements behind these attacks were Iran and its protégé, Hezbollah,” Netanyahu reportedly said, vowing to “act with a strong hand against international terror.”

And this and not the international terrorism itself, the story implies, is the cause for alarm.

What should be causing serious alarm is the rhetoric coming from Iran, which resembles in frighteningly familiar fashion, that spewed by the Nazis in the years preceding the Holocaust.

“The Zionist regime, due to repeated crimes against humanity, is the main party accused of terrorist activities,” an Iranian leader reportedly said.

An incredible, jaw-dropping example of the pot calling the kettle black, but, oddly, true, if you rely on the predominantly anti-Semitic United Nations’ predilection for anti-Israel condemnation – a longstanding, untenable situation that is also clearly part of the design.

On U.N. stationery, Israel looks like the world’s worst country, despite the opposite being true on the ground.

But, if you work by the Josef Goebbels propaganda handbook, the bigger the lie and the more often it’s repeated, the likelier the plotters are to gain believers.

The A.P. story also notes that Israeli diplomats in India have been on constant alert since Pakistan-based militants rampaged across Mumbai in 2008, targeting luxury hotels, a train station and the Chabad Jewish community center.

And that brings up something else.

Has there ever been another group, besides the Jews, who have been targeted indiscriminately by murderers throughout the world this way?

I don’t think so.

I don’t think anyone else has killers stalking them wherever they are, except maybe, peaceful Muslims, who are also, oddly enough, frequently murdered indiscriminately by the very same evil-in-human-clothing as the Jews.

But, the Jews have been the targets of indiscriminate violence and murder for centuries in long-forgotten mass murders and generic pogroms and actions big enough to have been given names, like The Inquisition, the Crusades and the Holocaust. And for the past two decades, at least, the main driving force behind the piecemeal slaughter of innocent Jews has been Iran. For instance, in 1992, a bombing at the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires killed 29 people. And two years later, a bombing at a Jewish community center there killed 85. Argentines have long suspected high-level Iranian diplomats were involved.

But reporters continue being fed and regurgitating anti-Semitic tripe by these same plotters, knowing they gain believers with every biased report and that eventually they will have the acquiescence if not the active backing of enough of the misinformed populace to launch another holocaust without fear of resistance.

Persistence and patience are key.
