An unabashedly pro-Palestinian “activist,” Vittorio Arrigoni was murdered this week by the very barbarians he championed, the Associated Press reported.
The report says Gaza’s Hamas rulers went hunting for the al-Qaida-inspired Islamic militants believed to have killed the unfortunately badly misguided Italian national.
The story tries to say this murder “underscores the difficulties Hamas faces controlling even more radical factions,” in Gaza but I think this is a bed radical Palestinian Islamists have made through generations of violent rhetoric and behavior. A bed in which they are now forced to lie.
Hamas police reportedly stormed an apartment in Gaza City where Arrigoni, 36, was being held by the “extremists” that kidnapped him. They found his body, in an otherwise empty apartment.
A statement by police reportedly said his body had “signs of strangulation and hanging around his neck,” as well as marks of handcuffs on his hands and evidence suggesting he’d been beaten about the face.
If this is how the Palestinians treat their friends, I don’t even want to know how they treat their enemies.
Arrigoni was reportedly a well-known figure in Gaza, “frequently clenching a pipe between his teeth and wearing a beret emblazoned with a likeness of Che Guevara, as well as bracelets in the red, black, green and white colors of the Palestinian flag.”
A press release from his organization, the International Solidarity Movement, reportedly says he had been “monitoring human rights violations by Israel, supporting the Palestinian popular resistance against the Israeli occupation and disseminating information about the situation in Gaza to his home country of Italy.”
And for that, they kidnapped, tortured and murdered him.
Again, with friends like these….
The story says this murder was the work of some group called the Salafi, who are even more radical than Hamas, if that’s possible, and consider Hamas – an internationally recognized terrorist group, “too moderate.”
The Salafi movement is growing across the Middle East, the story says, “preaching ultraconservative Islam that strictly segregates the sexes and vehemently reject anything but a strict, hard-line interpretation of Islamic Shariah law.”
Just what the world needs.
Some, it says, like the group believed to be behind Arrigoni’s abduction, are inspired by al-Qaida and call for waging jihad against whoever they see as Islam’s enemies – in other words, anyone not adhering to their particular brand of radical Islam.
They are described as a group that “emerged in Gaza after the Israeli withdrawal in 2005.”
Kind of like Hezbollah formed after Israeli’s war with Lebanon.
So, these new, ever more radical, homicidal Islamo-Fascists, are birthed by Israel going in someplace or leaving someplace.
I don’t think what Israel does or doesn’t do has any bearing on the formation of these bloodthirsty gangs, except in that it provides an explanation and justification accepted by much of the world.
Now, in a situation I find hilariously ironic, Hamas is scrambling to find ways “to reverse the tide,” of the proliferation of these uber-radical Islamists, maybe by putting “radicals” on trial and “re-educating” recruits.
That Karma’s not instant, but it’s close, don’t you think?
These Salafi nut jobs are the same bunch involved in the abduction of Israeli soldier, Sgt. Gilad Schalit, in 2006, who they still hold captive, according to the story.
What a nightmare. There obviously is a bogyman, and these creatures are it.
