Here they go again. Once again, we are faced with a president and members of Congress running around with their hair on fire.
48 hours until the government shuts down! Seniors will be thrown in the snow! Babies won’t get their formula! Tourists in DC won’t be able to see the cherry blossoms!
The apocalypse is upon us once again, because once again, the Democrats refuse to do their job.
The blame game over a possible partial government shutdown is raging, but let’s be clear about who is TRULY at fault. The point of debate here is the 2011 budget. The budget for THIS year. Recall that each fiscal year begins every October 1. Therefore, the American people were supposed to be presented with a budget and the Congress was supposed to vote on it and the president was supposed to OK it by October 1 OF LAST YEAR. At that time, Democrats controlled the White House and BOTH houses of Congress by huge majorities. They could have gotten whatever kind of budget they wanted through. They could have proposed a budget with a gazillion dollars in new spending and gotten it through. But in their infinite cowardice, they refused to even propose a budget, never mind attempt a vote on one, because they were facing November’s elections and a voting public sour on spending and demanding serious cuts. The White House and the Democrat Congressional leadership avoided making their vulnerable members take tough votes by avoiding proposing any budget at all.
Profiles in courage, those Dems, aren’t they?? Remember: they ran for the hills WHEN THEY HAD ALL OF THE POWER!!
Now they run around the Capitol with their hair on fire because yet another ridiculous short-term spending resolution is set to expire on Friday night. In panic mode, they are trying to blame Republicans for being unwilling to “compromise.” They must mean “compromise” the way THEY used it when they controlled Congress with big numbers, right?
The Republicans were elected in November and given control of the House precisely to cut spending. That’s what they’re trying to do. It’s not their fault that the Dems can’t get their acts together and prefer indulging in old-school political games rather than deal with the nation’s serious fiscal problems.
But enough about the clownish Congressional Dems. Let’s check in with the president.
No budget? No problem! He’s off to Philly to chit-chat about “green energy” and then to New York, where he’ll hold court with Al Sharpton at his National Action Network gala. Guess who else Sharpton is honoring tonight? Magic Johnson and Jim Brown. And oh yeah—Phil Griffin, the president of MSNBC. I’m shocked, shocked! to see that there’s gambling in Casablanca.
Obama, Sharpton, and Griffin are the Larry, Mo, and Curly of the Far Left.
They and the rest of the Democrat party truly party while Rome burns. Funny, their hair doesn’t seem to be on fire. What, us worry?
