The cynical saying goes, “if it bleeds it ledes.” But that’s evidently not true with the BBC, at least when it’s Jews doing the bleeding.
For that formerly respectable organization, the murder of a mother and father and three young children in their home is secondary to an approval to build apartments.
Honest to G-d.
Ruth and Udi Fogel, 35 and 36, respectively, along with their three-month old daughter, Hadas, and their two boys, Elad, 3 and Yoav, 11, were stabbed to death by Palestinian terrorists who hopped the fence around their West Bank neighborhood and broke into the family’s home.
The murders occurred around 10 p.m. when one or two terrorists slithered into the home and went room by room, stabbing and killing the family members.
Honest Reporting notes that despite the cold-blooded murder of babies, “many media outlets still chose to politicize the horrific slaughter of innocents by focusing less on the massacre itself and more on making an issue of the attack’s location and dehumanizing the victims as ’settlers.’”
For instance, the New York Times’ headline said, “Suspecting Palestinians, Israeli Military Hunts for Killers of 5 West Bank Settlers,” while the Washington Post’s was “Israeli troops scour West Bank villages for killers of 5 Jewish settlers.”
But the BBC took the clearly anti-Semitic cake with a story that “virtually buried the Fogel family’s massacre, once again demonstrating its obsession with the settlement issue” above all others in the Arab-Israeli conflict, Honest Reporting notes. The BBC headline is “Israel approves new settler homes.”
Apartments trump family massacre.
Demonstrating that had apartments not been ok’d by Israel that day, nothing whatsoever would likely have been reported about the murder of that Jewish family, the massacre rates only a few lines folded into a BBC story about “settlements.”
“The BBC does, however, report the attack ‘has shocked many Palestinians,’” Honest Reporting notes. But it fails to mention “that Hamas described the attack as a ‘heroic operation’ while sweets and candies were handed out in Gaza in celebration.”
Anyone paying attention will note this is not the first, nor will it likely be the last time Islamists celebrate cold-blooded murder. Another ‘heroic operation’ — the massacre of a pregnant Tali Hatuel and her four her small children in their car a while back, caused great, candy-tossing joy among Palestinian Islamists, and the 911 terrorist attacks on America prompted dancing in the streets all over the Arab world.
Obviously, BBC officials think it’s ok to murder babies based on their address and their ethnicity. It is also clear that the only sensibilities that matter to BBC officials when it comes to the Israel-Palestinian conflict are the Palestinians.’
I suspect that had some Jews murdered an Arab family in Haifa or somewhere else in Israel proper, the BBC’s response would have been quite different.
In fact, I think it’s safe to say that had such a thing happened, the world would even now be reporting riots in the streets of Paris, London and elsewhere.
All’s quiet on the western front now, though, because the dead are “only” a Jewish family, and that, it seems, is ok.
“In the BBC’s world, it is all about the settlements,” Honest Reporting notes. “By politicizing such a heinous terrorist crime perpetrated against a baby, two small children and their parents, the BBC is as guilty as the perpetrators of dehumanizing innocent Israelis based on where they live.”
To the BBC, which if it ever had a moral compass has lost it entirely along the way, there is no moral difference between murdering innocent babies and building homes in disputed territory, HR points out.
It further notes that the constant propaganda and incitement from the Palestinians, and much of the international media’s acquiescence to it, has created an environment so toxic that the murder of an infant, dehumanized to the point of being referred to only as a “settler,” is justified, and “the human story behind the tragedy is cynically removed.”
Probably nothing anyone can do about it, but I thought I’d point it out in case a timeline is ever needed one day to explain how the next Holocaust came to pass.
