This summer we found out that Coalition troops in Afghanistan have been observing a lot of older men running around with young boys. Meanwhile, the troops were wondering why they themselves have been getting felt up by young Afghani men. Ironically, the story broke in The San Francisco Chronicle. (Well, is it ironic — or apropos?)

I remember in the weeks and months after 9/11 Western reporters were having the same problems whenever they went to mosques to interview imams or whoever else was relevant to a story — and the young boys in the mosques were all over the reporters’ private parts.

Below is an excerpt from the recent Chronicle story, followed by some typically merciless comments from me:

Afghanistan’s dirty little secret by Joel Brinkley, Aug. 29, 2010

Western forces fighting in southern Afghanistan had a problem. Too often, soldiers on patrol passed an older man walking hand-in-hand with a pretty young boy. Their behavior suggested he was not the boy’s father. Then, British soldiers found that young Afghan men were actually trying to “touch and fondle them,” military investigator AnnaMaria Cardinalli told me. “The soldiers didn’t understand.”

All of this was so disconcerting that the Defense Department hired Cardinalli, a social scientist, to examine this mystery. Her report, “Pashtun Sexuality,” startled not even one Afghan. But Western forces were shocked - and repulsed.

For centuries, Afghan men have taken boys, roughly 9 to 15 years old, as lovers. Some research suggests that half the Pashtun tribal members in Kandahar and other southern towns are bacha baz, the term for an older man with a boy lover. Literally it means “boy player.” The men like to boast about it.

“Having a boy has become a custom for us,” Enayatullah, a 42-year-old in Baghlan province, told a Reuters reporter. “Whoever wants to show off should have a boy.”
…
As for [President Hamid] Karzai, an American who worked in and around his palace in an official capacity for many months told me that homosexual behavior “was rampant” among “soldiers and guys on the security detail. They talked about boys all the time.” He added, “I didn’t see Karzai with anyone. He was in his palace most of the time.”
…
In Kandahar, population about 500,000, and other towns, dance parties are a popular, often weekly, pastime. Young boys dress up as girls, wearing makeup and bells on their feet, and dance for a dozen or more leering middle-aged men who throw money at them and then take them home. A recent State Department report called “dancing boys” a “widespread, culturally sanctioned form of male rape.”

So, why are American and NATO forces fighting and dying to defend tens of thousands of proud pedophiles, certainly more per capita than any other place on Earth? And how did Afghanistan become the pedophilia capital of Asia?

…Women are simply unapproachable…they can’t even look at a woman….”How can you fall in love if you can’t see her face,” 29-year-old Mohammed Daud told reporters. “We can see the boys, so we can tell which are beautiful.”

Even after marriage, many men keep their boys, suggesting a loveless life at home. A favored Afghan expression goes: “Women are for children, boys are for pleasure.” Fundamentalist imams, exaggerating a biblical passage on menstruation, teach that women are “unclean” and therefore distasteful. One married man even asked Cardinalli’s team “how his wife could become pregnant,” her report said. When that was explained, he “reacted with disgust” and asked, “How could one feel desire to be with a woman, who God has made unclean?”

That helps explain why women are hidden away - and stoned to death if they are perceived to have misbehaved. Islamic law also forbids homosexuality. But the pedophiles explain that away. It’s not homosexuality, they aver, because they aren’t in love with their boys. […]

Well, if they’re not in love with the boys, whom are they in love with? (Correct answer: no one. There is no love in much of Muslim culture.)

OK, so now we know why women have to cover up. It’s not to avoid temptation by the men; it’s to avoid jealousy. Kind of like in Greenwich Village.

But the reason is apparently two-fold, since at the same time these Muslim males are genuinely disgusted by women, who are “unclean.” So that explains why girls and women are punished for dating or being raped — the men are disgusted by the thought. And again, probably jealous.

Meanwhile, if women are unclean (the Koran tells Muslims to be grossed out by the period), why would any martyr want 72 virgins in paradise? I actually do believe he gets his 72 virgins. But what they’re not telling the martyr is that in the afterlife he is their tampon.

Wow. Afghanistan. CAN WE PLEASE GET SOME SHARIA UP IN HERE?! Apparently, half the male population is in need of death by wall-crushing.

Separately, I’ve often wondered why the gay community doesn’t have a healthy fear or antipathy toward the Islamic takeover, given that gays are essentially illegal in Muslim societies, their sexual orientation carrying a mandatory death sentence. Well, if Afghanistan is any indication (and it is), it seems Islam has a place for gays after all.

And — look — they seem to be on the same page:

Britain’s Leading Gay Activist Calls for Lowering of Age of Consent to 14 (Sep. 1)

One of Britain’s leading homosexualist activists has called again for the lowering of the age of sexual consent from 16 to 14, saying that this will reduce incidents of sexual abuse of young people. Peter Tatchell, founder of the group OutRage!, wrote on the website Big Think, “Whether we like it or not, many teenagers have their first sexual experience around the ages of 14 or 15.”

“If we want to protect young people, and I do, the best way to do this is not by threatening them with arrest, but by giving them frank, high quality sex and relationship education from an early age.

“This includes empowering them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to say no to unwanted sexual advances and to report sex abusers. Compared to the blanket criminalization of sexually-active under-age youth, this empowerment strategy is a more effective way to protect young people from peer pressure and pedophiles.”

A higher age of consent actually puts young teens at greater risk of abuse by “reinforcing the idea that young people under 16 have no sexual rights,” Tatchell said. “They signal that a young person is not capable of making a rational, moral choice about when to have sex.”
…
OutRage! has long lobbied for the lowering of the age of consent in Britain, which was already lowered for homosexual acts from age 21 in 1994 and again in 2000 to 16, after heavy lobbying by homosexualist activists.
