Lindsay Lohan was carted off to jail today for a probation violation, beginning what will probably be an abbreviated 90 day sentence. She joins fellow indulged nitwits, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, who’ve spent inglorious days in the Big House for reckless law-breaking.

Despite all of her obvious issues of substance abuse and disregard for the law, Linds is still aware enough to know that in Hollywood, the only thing that counts is image. Hollywood doesn’t care if you’re a drug addict, spousal abuser, drunk, or outlaw, as long as you look good doing it. This is why they cast the beautiful Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in “Bonnie and Clyde.” Nothing like drop-dead gorgeous actors portraying criminals that caused a lot of people to drop dead in real life.

Linds knows what the deal is, which is why she wore her prison-issue orange jumpsuit slouched down her shoulders, so the V-neck would be particularly plunging. In her mug shot, she gave a beseeching gaze, sexed up with slightly parted lips.

I hope, for her own sake, that she learns her lesson in jail. It would be nice to see this talented young actress get her act together and get back on the big screen in the kind of fun roles that made her a star.

There’s no evidence yet of a Linds epiphany, but there is evidence that she hasn’t forgotten the first lesson of Hollywood. For her mug shot, she wore eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick.
