I just have to break down this stunningly titled piece that was published last week in the Washington Times:

American Jewish community ends support of Turkish interests on Hill

Isn’t that like having a headline reading:
“Cattle End their Support of Ranchers’ Interests on Hill“?

Now for a breakdown of the text:

In October 2000, the government of Turkey had a problem.

House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert had promised to bring a resolution commemorating the Armenian genocide to the floor for a vote, a move that Ankara said would be a slap in the face to a NATO ally.

The Turks called up Keith Weissman, a senior researcher from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and asked him to intervene.

Can you imagine? Asking the Jews to spearhead having someone’s genocide denied? What was this guy thinking? Oh wait. The Jew does it:

Mr. Weissman said in an interview this week that AIPAC lit up the phones and managed at the last minute — with the help of the State Department — to persuade President Clinton himself to write a letter to Mr. Hastert saying a vote on the resolution would cause strategic damage to U.S. interests.

Ah, the Jewish lobby knew whose help to enlist on behalf of Muslims: The Jew-killing State Department, otherwise known as Dhimmi Central.

The last-minute push worked. Mr. Hastert removed the resolution from the floor, and the full Congress has yet to take up the matter to this day.

Yippeeee! We won! We won! But remember what Rosie Perez said in “White Men Can’t Jump” (read with Nuyorikan accent): “Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose you really win.”

But the American Jewish community is no longer helping Turkey, after a tumultuous deterioration of ties between Israel and Turkey in the past four years. The government in Ankara last week decried a botched Israeli raid on a Turkish aid flotilla, which claimed at least nine lives, as an act of “state terror.”

A tumultuous deterioration of ties?! Between the Jews and Muslim Turkey???!!! Who could have seen that coming?! You mean the “relationship” wasn’t worth betraying Armenians over? Gee, that sort of thing hasn’t backfired before, has it?

In some ways, the Memorial Day flotilla affair marks an end of Israel’s more than 20-year strategic alliance with Turkey, and the resulting support from the pro-Israel lobby in Washington.

Turkey, which has a secular constitution, was the first Muslim state to recognize Israel, in 1949.

Like, whatever. The Islamic switch hadn’t been flipped yet. The Muslim microchip hadn’t been activated. The call of the wild hadn’t sounded. So, yeah, Turkey recognized Israel. Especially since a Jewish homeland could encourage Jews to leave Turkey.

Israel has historically sought to form alliances with countries on the periphery of the Arab world such as Turkey, Iran and Ethiopia.

Turkey and Iran — you know, people who hate Jews a little less.

In 1982, when Israel invaded southern Lebanon, its army destroyed training camps affiliated with the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, a terrorist organization responsible for the slayings of Turkish diplomats.

Turkey rewarded Israel’s counterterrorism operations with increased intelligence ties. The intelligence relationship soon blossomed into full ambassadorial relations, and increased commercial trade and closer military cooperation. In exchange for arms sales from Israel, Turkey allowed the Israeli air force to use Anatolian airspace for training purposes.

The relationship began to sour in the early 2000s with the election of the Justice and Development Party (AKP in Turkish), which is based on elements of parties that had been banned for Islamism.

Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, said, “It’s not completely over. There are still close ties between many in Turkey and the community and there are still a lot of common interests.”

But Mr. Hoenlein added, “The Turks happen to have a government that is extremist, that has chosen a path that is violative of the past relationship. It has been a steady process, not just related to the most recent incident. This began with the election of this Islamist government in 2002.”

They just HAPPEN to have an extremist government. Gee, how does that just HAPPEN?! It’s not part of any general Muslim trend across the globe or anything. Again, completely unforseeable, right? (But then, we already know that this Hoenlein guy isn’t too good at putting two and two together.)

Barry Jacobs, the American Jewish Committee’s former director of strategic studies in the office of government and international affairs, also noted Turkey’s critical stance toward Israel’s 2006 invasion of southern Lebanon to root out Hezbollah terrorists attacking the Jewish state.

“This started in 2006 when I remember one Israeli diplomat complained that Turkish support for Hezbollah had ‘out-Arabed the Arabs,’” Mr. Jacobs said, adding that Turkey’s unconditional support for Hamas since 2007, combined with Jewish discomfort with defending the Turks on the Armenian issue, led to a dampening of support.

“The major Jewish organizations decided in 2008 that the question of the Armenian genocide resolution was so sensitive we would no longer take public and private positions to oppose it,” Mr. Jacobs said.

So let me see if I have this right. The Jews betray the Armenians while trying to secure a single enemy ally. Then, only after things go sour, only then does organized Jewry develop a conscience, or “discomfort” over what they’re doing?

Abe Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, said he thinks the Turks made a strategic decision to break with Israel during the Gaza war. He pointed to a heated exchange in 2009 at the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, when Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan walked out of a session with Israeli President Shimon Peres, telling him: “When it comes to killing, you know well how to kill.”

“We saw things deteriorating but it did not surface publicly until Davos,” Mr. Foxman said. “Until then, the trade continued, the military continued. It did not happen till the Gaza war. My feeling is that Turkey made a geopolitical decision before, but it needed an excuse to turn so dramatically.”

So basically, these “wise” old Jews needed for things with Turkey to actually play out, when I could have told them even from the womb how things would go. (Notice the persistent use of the word “deterioration” — as if there were any other direction this “relationship” could go in.)

Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Weissman were in some ways the architects of the Jewish community’s support for Turkey in Washington that began at the end of the Cold War. Both men led delegations of Jewish community leaders to Istanbul and Ankara. Mr. Weissman said AIPAC’s leaders even offered training to Turkish Americans on how to establish a successful lobby.

Good job, guys! Meanwhile, I had no idea that Jews were responsible for America’s positive turn toward Turkey and Turkish interests, and making Turkey into a deceptive American “ally.” That’s just great.

In Congress, the Jewish organizations lobbied for an oil pipeline from the Azerbaijani capital of Baku to the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan, a pipeline that bypasses Turkey’s rival Armenia entirely. The Jewish lobby in Washington helped protect U.S. arms sales to Turkey, on which the Greek lobby often tried to block or impose conditions.

OK, so the Jewish lobby can be a tad nefarious after all. Like when it’s furthering Muslim interests. And here I was wondering why Greeks don’t generally take a shine to Israel or Jews. Now I’m wondering why so many Armenians still like us. Trying to win enemies over is generally futile to begin with; doing it at the expense of your own kind (Judeo-Christian) is just sinister.

Henri Barkey, a former State Department Turkey analyst and senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, said, “The most important element of the relationship with Israel for the Turks in the late 1980s was improving relations with the United States through the American Jewish community.”

Ah, those useful Jews.

In the 1980s, Turkey often lost major fights in Congress to the Greek and Armenian lobbies.

Oh no! That can’t have been good for Israel or America! We needed to change that — fast!

“It made Turkey’s strategic value to the United States more visible and understandable when supporters of Israel would go to bat for them,” said Douglas J. Feith, a former undersecretary of defense for policy who represented Turkey when he was out of government in the early 1990s. “All of the sudden, you not only had strong support for Turkey in elements of the executive branch, you also had then some serious debate on [Capitol Hill] in favor of Turkey as well.”

Awesome!

Today, far from being an asset for Turkey, the American Jewish community appears to becoming a potent foe of Turkish interests in Washington.

A little late, Chumps.

On Tuesday for example, the Anti-Defamation League issued a press release calling on the State Department to designate the IHH, the Turkish charity that helped organize the free-Gaza flotilla as a foreign terrorist organization. In Turkey, the IHH has been praised as a group of peace activists and humanitarians.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Good luck with that. That’ll fix ‘em! That’ll undo all the damage! Notice how no one wanted to designate IHH a terrorist organization when it was providing terror services in Bosnia against Serbs. That would be the Balkans I’m talking about here — that other prominent site of American and Jewish (but not Israeli!) betrayal of Christians in the hopes of making enemy allies.

“In terms of the Jewish community and Israel, neither one of us wants to throw it away and hope it is not over,” Mr. Foxman said. “But every day there is another provocation. Every day the Turkish government goes out of its way to be insulting to Israel and another link is broken.”

Morris Amitay, a former executive director of AIPAC who has also represented Turkey, was more blunt. “If someone asked me now if I would try to protect Turkey in Congress, my response would be, ‘You’ve got to be kidding,’” he said…

Wow, what a tough guy! What an after-the-fact visionary! Yeah, you show ‘em who’s boss…now that Jews have made Turkey an entrenched “ally” of the U.S. and its counter-interests to Israel’s now get at least as much weight and consideration as Israel’s. From where I’m sitting, the Turkish strategy worked beautifully! Get the Jews to get you into Capitol Hill, so then you’ll be in a better position to advance Muslim interests and downgrade Jewish ones.

Why, here we go already: Israel vs Turkey: Which Serves US Interests Better? ( “The fact is that the US and Turkey have a great many goals in common in the broader Middle East…”)

Hell, we Jews were so successful that Turkey is even a bonified, untouchable “NATO ally.” How do you like this: Muslim Turkey is in NATO, which is used to pummel non-threatening, non-Muslim countries.

OK, so now it’s time to talk about all those conservative suckers who were against the congressional resolution to declare the ethnic cleansing of Armenians by the Turks as a genocide. This apology on behalf of Turkey, Ralph Peters stormed in the NY Post, is nothing but an attempt to undermine Bush’s war effort in Iraq!

Partisan politics never sound so bratty as when they supersede jihad concerns. Let’s remember that this is the Ralph Peters who, also in the pages of the NY Post, accused Robert Spencer of being an Islamophobe. I guess Peters by now may see that he and the Jewish lobby could have used a little Islamophobia themselves.

National Review even went so far as to publish a piece in late 2007, titled “The moral case against the Armenian Genocide resolution,” by Barbara Lerner.

That piece went into the technical intricacies of why a million Armenians who died in the course of Turkish policy being implemented wasn’t a genocide per se. But notice that none of these pathetic Republican dhimmis DARED deconstruct a “genocide” of a much smaller but highly inflated figure of 8,000, exclusively male, ‘victims’ in Srebrenica. None dared cry foul even when the very word “genocide” was redefined in order to make it fit the crime (and to make the crime fit the expected punishments). Or when our Congress passed a resolution in 2005 condemning the Srebrenica “genocide,” a resolution that dutifully repeated almost every fictitious claim coming out of the Bosnian Ministry of Information.

Because the victims were Muslim. Toss the Christian Armenians from the genocide train on behalf of Muslim Turks, then contradict yourself in order to put the Muslim Bosnians on the train, tossing the Christian Serbs onto the tracks. Contradictions aside, the pattern is consistent: It’s not genocide when it’s done by Muslims; it is genocide when it’s done against Muslims.

Some telling aspects of the National Review piece by Lerner: The only time she mentions that that the Turks were Muslims is when she talks about the Russians brutalizing the Muslims. There’s no mention that the Ottomans were an Islamic Empire or that non-Muslims were second-class citizens that were brutalized and abused. She also says that when the Turks marched Armenian women, children and elderly out of Turkey they actually tried to protect them and supply them with water and food. So a million Armenians died from Turkish kindness.

In contrast, here is what the much better-informed, non-self-deluding JihadWatch.org had to say about the bill at the time, circa October 2007.

It’s not like we needed just these past six months of Turkish badness to let us know where Turkey stood, and where it was heading. Turkey was demolishing Armenian churches even in 2005. Between the time of the genocide bill debate and the now un-sugarcoat-able Turkish meltdown, there was plenty more to be chewed on by all those conservative buffoons who opposed the Armenian Genocide Resolution because Turkey is an “Ally.” These are all from 2008:
