November: The Time to Boycott Liberalism

Nothing makes me happier than liberals who reveal what they truly are: close-minded bullies who believe they and they alone own the franchise on enlightened thinking. Nothing exemplifies their true nature better than their collective reaction to the new immigration law enacted by Arizona. Two stories top the list: In Los Angeles, the City Council voted to boycott Arizona businesses; in Illinois, a Highland Park H.S. girl’s basketball team, scheduled to play in Arizona after winning their first conference championship in 26 years, had their trip cancelled by school officials.

Los Angeles, much like the rest of California, is overrun by illegal immigrants. One would think a city and a state on the verge of bankruptcy–a condition unassailably related to out-of-control illegal immigration–would be somewhat hesitant to bring attention to their own stunning inadequacy to deal with the problem.

Luckily enough, the libs on the City Council are completely tone-deaf. “An immigrant city, an international city, (Los Angeles) needs to have its voice heard,” Councilman Ed Reyes said. “It is crucial this great city take a stand.”

Again, one would like to think Mr. Reyes, a public official who ostensibly represents the citizens of Los Angeles, might have the capacity to reflect on phrases such as “immigrant city,” in which no distinction is made between legal and illegal immigrants, and “international city,” which could be construed to mean that the relationship between Los Angeles and the United States is a casual one, unconstrained by inconvenient nuisances–like federal immigration law, for example. Mr. Reyes is apparently equally oblivious to the idea that “taking a stand” means siding with alien lawbreakers over American citizens.

How bad is California’s illegal immigrant problem? In 1994, the Urban Institute estimated that the cost of subsidizing illegals then was $1.1 billion. Tens years later? $10.5 billion according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). Now? Approximately $13 billion a year–in a state which has already handed out IOUs to banks and other creditors, and whose budget deficit is north of $20 billion.

Liberals in California are apparently unsatisfied with bringing the largest state in the country to its knees. They want to “spread the ideological wealth” to Arizona as well.

Going toe-to-toe with their California brethren are the holier-than-thou school officials at Highland Park high school. In their inimitable self-righteousness, they have cancelled a scheduled trip to Arizona next year for their girls basketball team. And in keeping with liberal tradition, Assistant School Superintendent Sue Hebson did what all liberals do when confronted the bankruptcy of their ideology: she initially lied about the reasons for doing so. “We would want to ensure that all of our students had the opportunity to be included and be safe and be able to enjoy the experience, said Ms. Hebson. ” We wouldn’t necessarily be able to guarantee that.”

Later she admitted that the trip “would not be aligned with our beliefs and values.”

What beliefs and values? Liberal beliefs and values–ones in which the accomplishments of a high school basketball team and its ensuing reward can be tossed under the bus to satisfy the concerns of self-aggrandizing pissants. Pissants who believe any attempt made by Arizonans to thwart wholesale law-breaking is beneath contempt.

Not nearly as contemptuous as making a bunch of teenage girls political pawns, Ms. Hebson.

Once again, however, I am truly grateful. It is vitally important for Americans to see the ugly face of liberalism in those rare instances when the carefully cultivated image of tolerance and open-mindedness is revealed for the utter fraud it truly is. Aided and abetted by the mainstream media, liberals have been able to hide their true nature from Americans for decades.

Thankfully, their unbridled arrogance cannot be contained on certain matters. Neither can their glaring hypocrisy. It should be noted that the same Highland Park high school boycotting Arizona is sponsoring a school trip to Communist China. Apparently a country which has long embraced a one child policy resulting in female babies being both abandoned and killed is “more aligned” with liberal “beliefs and values,” than a state struggling to prevent de facto anarchy.

Sixty percent of Americans support what Arizona is doing. Citizens in many other states are expressing a desire to see similar laws enacted by their own legislatures–in a direct refutation of a highly-coordinated attack by liberals, illegal immigrant activist groups and a throughly compromised mainstream media, all of whom reveal what liberalism is really all about: a tyranny of the minority employing any means necessary to maintain their tyranny.

I hope they keep it up all the way to November. I hope they continue to characterize ordinary Americans as racists, xenophobes, Nazis and every other epithet liberals fall back on when they have no intellectual argument to support their positions. Far too many Americans have been far too tolerant of an ideology which considers the average American too stupid to take seriously. They’ve allowed their communities, their culture and their fiscal well-being to be undermined by those for whom America is no better or worse than any other country, people who yearn for America’s “comeuppance” on the world stage.

Liberals literally want Americans to underwrite their own destruction in an unattainable quest for utopian “social justice.”

I believe Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer summed up the latest incarnation of liberal lunacy best: “I find it really interesting that we have people out there that are attempting a boycott in favor of illegal actions in Arizona. That to me is just unbelievable.”

I hope that very word, “unbelievable” is the one liberals will be muttering to themselves following the election in November.
