Ah, big government. It does so many things so well, how could we not all swoon in affection and admiration for it?

Today we learn this scintillating detail: the $787 billion economic “stimulus” package distributed $6.4 billion to 440 Congressional districts that DO NOT EXIST.

Recovery.gov is the website that is supposed to monitor where our taxpayer dough is going. It’s also supposed to have been run by Joe Biden, who first thought the website was a phone number and now claims he’s on top of all discrepancies. Anybody buying that particular bridge?

According to Recovery.gov, more than $2 million was given to North Dakota’s 99th District. North Dakota has one Congressional District. It would have to have a population of about 60 million people in order to qualify for 99 districts, about 24 million more people than California currently has.

This is one example. There are 439 others.

During the campaign, Obama and the Democrats constantly ripped Bush for “incompetence” on Iraq, the economy, Katrina, etc. Obama promised competence if elected.

I’m sure we’ll see it any day now.
