If history is any indication, the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks on the United States have nothing to worry about.

Most of them will die of old age, unless they choose to make themselves into two-legged bombs.

They will almost certainly not be brought to justice.

I say this judging from the incredible sloth with which the world brings to justice the perpetrators of the Nazi Holocaust.

Just today, news agencies reported that “a 90-year-old German man was charged with the murders of Jewish slave laborers during World War II.”

That war has been over for more than 60 years, and they’re just now getting around to arresting this killer, who Associated Press identifies as Adolf Storms. This guy was charged Tuesday with 58 counts of murder in an event known as the massacre at Deutsch Scheutzen, in Austria. Storm is believed to have committed this crime in 1945, and they’re just now getting around to arresting him for it.

And it’s not even as though the authorities were looking for him. The AP reports he was identified by an Austrian graduate student who was researching a paper.

They’re also preparing to try former U.S. citizen John Demjanjuk, 89, “a suspected Nazi death-camp guard accused of killing 27,900 people in the Sobibor concentration camp,” according to the report.

If one didn’t know better, one might conclude that the world is dragging its feet on this in the subconscious (or maybe conscious) hope that the killers all die naturally before they can be made to pay for their crimes.

This is the very definition of the phrase “justice delayed is justice denied.”

So, if the world stays true to form, the 9/11 conspirators and other terrorists will live to ripe old ages before anyone gets around to making their lives uncomfortable.

Most likely our grandchildren will one day read about the impending trial of 105-year-old Usama bin Laden, unless, of course, the world has been entirely swallowed up by then by the black cloud that is Islam. And then, of course, bin Laden and his type become the folk heroes here that they already are in the Muslim world.

Part of the problem is that we keep trying to “play fair” when our enemy isn’t even playing the same game we are, let alone by the same rules.

Anyone who hasn’t yet seen Dutch legislator Geert Wilder’s most recent speech in Florida, really needs to seek it out on the internet. He’s the man who created the film “Fitna” about the Islamization of Europe. He’s being prosecuted now in his own country for offending Muslims, according to his speech.

And, naturally, his life is in danger, he says, as leaders of “the religion of peace” have issued a “fatwa” or contract on his life.

I think it’s imperative that man be protected. If he’s allowed to be murdered by the Muslims, it will further erode any surviving courage in Europe to fight the destruction of Western culture.

Wilder says immigration into the West from Muslim countries must stop immediately, and those already here must prove a willingness to Westernize or leave. That makes sense to me. So does his declaration that mosques cease being built in the West until churches and synagogues are permitted to be built in Muslim counties.

What we are engaged in, no matter what anyone says, is a clash of cultures, and unless the West is willing to give up its way of life in favor of radical Islam, more people had better wake up and smell the falafel.
