President Obama is big on summits. He loves to hear the sound of his own voice, of course, and he loves to gas around with so-called “experts.” Which would be fine, except that the “experts” love the sound of their own voices too and soon, everyone is talking themselves into a circle. And nothing gets done.
Now, Obama is announcing that he would convene a “jobs” summit in December to talk about how to create more of them in a country with a 10.2% unemployment rate and a 17.5% underemployment rate.
I’ll save you the spectacle of the “jobs” summit: the way to create jobs is to cut taxes. All taxes. Especially individual income taxes, taxes on small business, payroll taxes, and the corporate tax rate. That’s it. You’ll see job creation and economic growth happen faster than a speeding bullet.
But if Obama cut taxes, he’d be a bad liberal. So he presses on with job-killing, growth-crushing policies, and convenes summits to contemplate the economic navel.
(Meanwhile, the “Afghanistan” summit is working out great, no? Obama just announced that after nearly four months of summitry, he still can’t make up his mind and is sending all of the “experts” back to the drawing board.)
On the economy, he spent trillions of dollars because he said it would create jobs. It hasn’t. The employment picture has gotten worse. So now, he’s going to perform a summit to figure out why. OK. Then let’s stop spending money until he figures it out.
Wasn’t he elected because he conned enough people into thinking he was smart and had answers to problems like this? And didn’t he already have ten months to figure out jobs and Afghanistan? Shouldn’t the summits have happened, oh, A YEAR AGO?
This is the Seminar President. And he’s talking us, literally, to death.
