On the day in which that deeply immoral report was taken up by the new though unimproved Human Rights Commission, a group of senior Senior Israeli legalists called for the creation of a Goldstone Report examining committee. The legal experts include Amnon Rubinstein who notes Goldstone’s Unconscious humor revealed in the chastising of the suppression of Gaza war criticism based on reports by Israeli NGOs and papers while ignoring such suppression in Gaza.
Complaints have been heard charging that Israel and its supporters focus on attacking Goldstone instead of his report. Nothing can be further from the truth. If Godstone’s daughter has difficulty sitting down to a New Year meal with him and Richard Landes is fisking him , it is because the report is so flawed and he has been so dishonest. Thus today, Grad victim Dr. Mirella Sidrer slamed Goldstone for excluding her testimony after thanking her for it. Or consider his telling an interviewer that the reason the security council failed to deal with the years of shelling is because Israel failed to bring it to its attention. Yaacov Lozowick responds with a lenghty list of such complaints found in U.N. documents I copied below.
What about the accusations found in the report? Consider this critique of the report submitted to the HRC’s consideration. It seeks to draw the Council’s attention to the following points:
1. Rejection and omission of credible relevant evidence2. The conditions under which the Cast Lead operation took place
3. Lack of freedom to investigate in Gaza
4. Inaccurate information
5. Abuse of hospitals and ambulances for military purposes
The Israeli government has also issued it’s initial critique as did Honest Reporting which issued Special Report and Elder of Zion who has already posted a 16 part blog detailing inaccuracies. And they have only just begun.
What pains me most is the role paid by Jews in pushing the Antisemitic agenda along. Yes, Antisemitic as it singles Israel for special opprobrium. As my late teacher, the brilliant historian Yaakov Talmon remarked: “The state of Israel has turned into the ‘Jew’ of the nations.” And the international law and human rights codes Jews hoped would protect them and other victims like themselves have boomeranged. Unfortunately, Jews, like Goldstone, who worked long and hard on their behalf are unable to acknowledge what everybody knows by now. The international law and human rights are now valuable weapons directed by terrorists and tyrants against democracies and especially the Jewish one. Once again the road to hell is covered with good intentions and Jewish victims.
