In my opinion, Ronald Reagan was the best president of my lifetime. Historically speaking, I’m also a big fan of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. I wouldn’t want any of them–or any other politician–giving a nationwide address to school children as young as five years old.
What President Barack Obama intends to say to the nation’s schoolchildren on September 8th is irrelevant. What is critical, and should concern every reasoning parent in the country is this: he wants to speak to children so young that their capacity for independent, critical thinking is virtually non-existent.
Why? For collectivists, it’s never too early to begin converting our kids to their “it takes a village to raise a child” worldview
For the past forty years, the American left has had great success insinuating their values into the public school system. The reason for that success is simple: they have fought tooth and nail to keep the most salient competing ideas, aka, religion, out. The resulting ideological monopoly–and it is a monopoly–has produced millions of young Americans with little regard for traditional values, history or culture. For far too long, far too many impressionable kids have come out of public school with the idea that America is little more than an imperialist crusader running roughshod over a virtuous world, aided and abetted by corporate, planet-fouling villains. We are hopelessly racist, misogynistic and homophobic, and we owe the rest of the planet an apology for being successful.
If it were up to me, I’d keep these zealots away from high school students. That they’re targeting children as young as five is unconscionable. Yet that is precisely what they intend to do, as the Education Dept. is urging schools across the country to participate in a “teaching moment.”
Here’s a better lesson plan: parents, keep you kids home on September 8th. Make sure you tell your school officials exactly why. Tell them no politician gets to address kids too young to understand what’s going on in this country, much less indoctrinate them with any political ideology.
And while you’re at it, tell them one more thing: tell them you’re going to watch them like a hawk. Tell them if your kid comes homes with some book or homework assignment with some anti-American worldview, you’ll raise holy hell.
In his short time in office, Barack Obama has made it abundantly clear that he is the most narcissistic president in the history of the republic. Equally clear is the fact that he, like so many others suffused with the same radical leftist worldview, considers America a fundamentally flawed nation, requiring a complete overhaul.
All of them are entitled to believe whatever they want. But it is becoming increasingly clear that most Americans do not embrace their collectivist, government-is-all ideology.
As for a president with the kind of unbridled hubris that makes him believe parents can’t wait to have him “enlighten” their children, a simple message:
Pick on someone your own size, Mr. President!
