Even as some Muslim countries actively engage in murder and mayhem, going so far as to enact laws permitting reprehensible behavior, some mainstream media outlets and even so-called human rights groups continue to batter the world’s only Jewish state with outrageous, trumped up allegations the world seems eager to swallow whole. 

The Associated Press recently reported that women’s rights activists in Afghanistan are alarmed that Afghan President Hamid Karzai “has used a constitutional loophole to enact a law that allows minority Shiite Muslim husbands to refuse food and money to their wives if they deny them sex.”

Wow. 

And we’re hoping to “bring democracy” to such a place?

We’re lucky if we can cut down on beheadings and burnings at the stake.

I don’t know about you, but this seems to be to be sufficiently frightening to alarm not just women’s rights activists in Afghanistan, but worldwide, along with human rights activists and everybody else. 

But I haven’t come across any condemnation from Human Rights Watch, the United Nations or any of the other “watchdog” agencies so fond of issuing missives against Israel. 

Recently, for instance, HRW, still doing damage control over revelations of questionable fundraising in Saudi Arabia, evidently has on staff a man named Joe Stork, who has made public statements applauding the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics.

“Munich and similar actions cannot create or substitute for a mass revolutionary movement,” the statement said, “But we should comprehend the achievement of the Munich action…It has provided an important boost in morale among Palestinians in the camps.”

Murder and terrorism as morale boosters. Nice. Definitely a fair-minded guy. And this guy’s reports are published by HRW. Why would anyone see his drivel as anything besides the ramblings of a deranged and dangerous anti-Semite and potential terrorist?

But Stork’s work is published in much of the mainstream media. Media like the leading Swedish newspaper that recently reported that Israeli soldiers are abducting Palestinians and stealing their organs. I swear.

“They plunder the organs of our sons,” announced the headline in the left-leaning Aftonbladet, which reportedly devoted a double spread in its cultural section to the article.

The report makes a link to the recent exposure of an alleged money-laundering ring in New Jersey which includes several American rabbis, and one, Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, who faces charges of conspiring to broker the sale of a human kidney for a transplant.

But the liberal Sydsvenskan – another major Swedish paper – saw the article for what it was – an anti-Semitic blood libel – and reportedly ran an opinion piece called, “Antisemitbladet” (a play on the name Aftonbladet).
“Whispers in the dark. Anonymous sources. Rumors. That is all it takes. After all we all know what (the Jews) are like, don’t we: inhuman, hardened. Capable of anything,” the opinion piece says. “Now all that remains is the defense, equally predictable: “Anti-Semitism’ No, no, just criticism of Israel.”

A rose by any other name….
