Last week, President Obama visited the Middle East and issued an appeal to the Muslim world to moderate its fanatical elements and marginalize terrorist syndicates like al Qaeda. He also asked the Congress for billions of dollars more for Pakistan to help fight al Qaeda and the Taliban there.

Today, Osama bin Laden gave his response.

Islamic militants in Peshawar, Pakistan attacked a luxury hotel popular with foreigners with a truck bomb and a blaze of gunfire. So far, five people are reported dead and scores more injured. The death toll is expected to rise.

The Bama can try to play footsie with the Muslim world. He can do his “on the one hand, on the other hand” routine to show them he’s carefully considered their point of view. He can emphasize his middle name and Muslim roots until the cows come home. He can contort himself into a pretzel trying to reach out to the Islamic world and try to get them to “unclench their fists.”

Osama has other ideas.
