The first U.S. jihadi cell of 2009 was just busted by the FBI and New York City Police Department. Four Muslim men were arrested in connection with alleged plots to blow up synagogues and shoot down military aircraft en route Iraq and Afghanistan.

Today’s announcement is a true reminder that we are still under attack, eight years after September 11. And it also means that we are still in a real WAR, not an imaginary “overseas contingency operation” or facing possible “man-made disasters.”

This Islamic terror enemy is real. They are here. FBI Director Robert Mueller said  that he opposes bringing Guantanamo Bay detainees to U.S. prisons because of widespread Islamic radicalization happening in our jails, which also breeds terrorism that is financed and run out of them.

Three of the four suspects were Muslim converts, who had been radicalized  … guess where?  In U.S. prisons.

What if the four terrorist suspects arrested today for allegedly plotting to blow up sites in New York, including synagogues, and shooting down U.S. military airplanes had known more?  What if they were suspected of knowing about other terrorists and other terrorist attacks?

Would they have been waterboarded or subjected to other Enhanced Interrogation Techniques to extract information to prevent those attacks from taking place?

Guess not.

On the same day we get this news, The Bama delivered a speech on national security that was a pure exercise in ivory tower navel-gazing. He flat-out doesn’t get it. The danger to us—with a Commander-in-Chief this naive and self-indulgent and small-minded—is exponential.

If we survive him, it will be a miracle. Pray for one.
