President Obama and Mrs. Obama are in Great Britain for the G20 summit, and they made the pilgrimage to Buckingham Palace for an audience with the Queen. Queen Elizabeth II has met with eleven U.S. presidents during her reign, and she is the sovereign of the British Empire (or what’s left of it.) As is customary, the president came to the Queen bearing a gift.
And what did he bestow upon Her Royal Highness?
An iPod.
The president of the United States gave the 82 year old Queen of England an iPod.
She graciously accepted it, as Queens do, despite already having one.
Recall that when the Queen visited the United States in 2007, President and Mrs. Bush gave her “a leather presentation box filled with a collection of documents from the National Archives. One of the items was a copy of an original letter from President Roosevelt to her father, King George, written in 1938.”
To recap: The Bama gave the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, 25 DVDs that he couldn’t actually play at home in Great Britain. He gave the Queen an iPod.
Up next: Ahmadinejad gets a Blu-Ray player.
Angela Merkel gets a Chia Pet.
Hu Jintao gets a Kindle.
Nicholas Sarkozy gets a Thighmaster.
Vladimir Putin gets a Sham-Wow.
Well, the Queen may have gotten a stocking stuffer from The Bama, but at least we know she’ll have endless hours of enjoyment with that iPod, loading up on Ludacris, Jay-Z, and maybe a little Kanye.
