Jafar, a Palestinian baby with a heart defect is in trouble. His Gaza doctor know what to do. He has been doing it for years. War or no war, he gets in touch with Dr. Akiva Tamir of the Wolfson Medical Center near Tel Aviv. The two arrange the transfer of the baby and his grandmother to the Israeli hospital where his heart was operated on. Jafar will survive. Let’s hope he will not be educated in a Madrassa run by Hamas where he will be taught his role in life is to kill Israelis.

In other words, at the same time that Israel’s sons and daughters are fighting to protect their home and hearth in Gaza, Israel doctors and nurses continue to save the Palestinian future generation, it’s babies. Israeli doctors have already saved 1000 babies with heart defects(and another 1000 from other Third world countries), the latest one from Gaza only this week. I do not know if anyone keeps tabs on the number of Palestinian children and adults which received medical care in Israel. This is what Israelis like to do, heal the world.

A Jewish mother, so the story goes, watches her son sworn in to be the first Jewish president. She, then, turns to the person sitting next to her and says: “You know, my other son is a doctor.” If only our enemies loved life the way they love death, peaceful coexistence would not be such a far away dream and Israel would not have to fight nor would it face such a tragic dilemma in Gaza.
