The images of Koreans stomping on the Star of David shouldn’t come as a surprise to me, but they do.
Anti-Semitism, by whatever name one calls it – the most popular right now being anti-Zionism – is a contagious and fatal disease being intentionally spread by radical Islamists and their Western sympathizers.
These Korean flag-stompers are among hundreds of thousands worldwide protesting Israel’s response to years of non-stop rocket and mortar fire into her civilian population centers – attacks that drew – wait for it – no protests at all.
You know, when my son was a little boy, there was a girl at school, who outweighed him by maybe 50 pounds, who started picking on him. She would hit him, trip him, lay in wait to push him down.
Since he was under standing orders never to hit a girl, he was at a distinct disadvantage and nothing he said to anyone seemed to make any difference.
So, our advice, after weeks of this behavior, was for our son to tell this girl, as well as the teacher and the principal, that if she didn’t immediately stop trying to hurt him, he had his parents’ permission to knock her on her tush.
The warning worked and he was not faced with having to hit her, but he was prepared to do it and we were all prepared to deal with the consequences.
Most people when they hear this story, understand why my son had to be willing to use force to stop the attacks we weren’t able to stop any other way.
For some reason, this is not working with the Israel/Hamas situation, though the basic elements are the same, and I’ve been trying to analyze why that might be.
I’ve come up with three possible explanations – discounting out-of-hand the concept that the Jews do not have the right to defend themselves, which is, I suppose, another option, though not for me.
The fact that they are symbolically killing Jews by stomping on the Star of David, even in countries essentially bereft of Jews, leads to possible explanation No. 1 – The Jews are so behind the curve in the propaganda war that they’re in danger of losing the practical one.
The mass media is complicit in this situation to the point that I’ve come to believe that some outlets are intentionally trying to finish the Nazi’s work by proxy. I have taken news stories apart piece-by-piece several times to illustrate how this works. It continues even in the paper I work for.
The other possible explanation is that we are witnessing the fruits of terrorism – that like kidnap victims, the world is suffering en masse from some wholesale form of Stockholm Syndrome. In other words, that the citizens of the world are so beaten down and fearful of the violent reaction of the so-called Arab or Muslim “street” to almost anything, that they psychologically shut down, subconsciously preferring the perceived relative safety of identification with their captors.
The third explanation I’ve been able to come up with is that we’re seeing another worldwide epidemic of pure anti-Semitism – Jew-hatred in its undiluted, most blind, violent and incurable form. This would help explain how thousands of people worldwide react viscerally to the idea of the Jews fighting back but not to their being attacked.
If there’s a less alarming explanation, I’d love to hear it.
