A young New York rabbi and his wife were able to smuggle their toddler son out of the building before Islamic terrorists murdered the couple and several others in an Indian Chabad House this week.
The disgusting, cold-blooded murder of innocent people was part of a coordinated attack by — you guessed it — Islamic militants, who targeted Americans, Britons and Jews in hotels, restaurants, hospitals and that Jewish center in Mumbai.
How many times and in how many places is this ugly scenario going to be played out?
What do the killers gain? What do they want? Does it really matter?
Not to me.
All I care about is that the carnage stop. If I ever cared what motivated the murderers, I don’t anymore. At this point, with so much blood and death on their hands, it seems clear that these people murder for murder’s sake. It’s what they do — plan and carry out bloody attacks against complete strangers who have done nothing whatsoever to them.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough of it. I only hope that enough people in the rest of the rational, thinking world realize the planet isn’t big enough for us and them — a conclusion “they” have clearly already drawn — and do something so that WE are the ones that come out on top.
The alternative is a dark prison of a world, in which freedom exists only in the memories of the survivors, of which none, presumably, will be Jews, or, most likely, Christians.
I don’t know what the answer is, but I’m pretty sure I know what it isn’t. It isn’t appeasement, which only serves to embolden crazies who are operating under the delusion that God means the whole world to be Muslim and who see compromise as weakness.
The problem is not the Jews or the Zionists or Israel, which has a right to exist in its historic land despite much of the surrounding area having fallen to the ravages of Islam over the past 1,500 years.
The problem also isn’t the United States or the West for supporting Israel or for living well or for drawing annoying cartoons or for any other reason. The West was doing its own thing, living its own way, having and working through its own problems before the advent of Islam, and, I’m confident, will continue to do so once the scourge of radical Islam is removed.
The reason for Islamic violence is its need to create, by whatever means necessary, a totally Muslim world, which explains the recent attack on India, which is neither a Christian nor a Jewish country, but which permits the unrestricted practice of both.
It occurs to me that, like an individual, a religion or a country that must impose its will by force has some serious self-worth issues.
Countries, like those in the West, and like Israel and India, which are secure in themselves, don’t need to bully people to stay or to believe a certain thing.
Experts say, for example, that men who beat up gays for sport, probably have homosexual tendencies, or are afraid they do. I think a parallel can likely be drawn with countries like the former Soviet Union, with its wall, and radical Islam, with its violence.
According to an Associated Press story, this week’s brazen mass murder spree in India began at about 9:20 p.m. with shooters spraying gunfire across one of the world’s busiest railroad terminals. And for the next two hours, there was an attack roughly every 15 minutes on 10 targets, in which more than 120 were killed and several hundred injured.
Armed lunatics able to kill unsuspecting, unarmed civilians. Wow. Good job.
