You can put lipstick on a pig…it’s still a pig.”–Barack Obama
“Coronations” are curious things. For months and months, Barack Obama and his media sycophants have tried to convince Americans that this was a different kind of presidential campaign, that “politics as usual” was a thing of the past and that a “transcendence” of ideas and personality was taking place right before our eyes.
In one sentence, Barack Obama reminded Americans how utterly bankrupt modern-day liberalism is. When liberals feel threatened, all the purported “tolerance,” “open-mindedness” and “idealism” of its adherents goes right down the drain. What gurgles to the surface in its place?
Adolescent name-calling, condescension, hypocrisy and elitism.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But any opinion must be based on, at the very least, a modicum of intellectual consistency. Liberals make it up as they go along. Feminism is either about a woman’s empowerment or it’s not. It’s not Hillary Clinton “glass ceiling shatterer,” but Sarah Palin “small town hick.” Military service is either an asset to a candidate’s resume’ or it’s not. It’s not John Kerry “war hero,” but John McCain “possibly unbalanced POW.”
Can anyone imagine the media reaction if any conservative used the word “pig” in any quote referring to any woman, no matter how indirect the reference? Barack Obama claims he wasn’t referring to Sarah Palin. Apparently the crowd at the Lebanon, Virginia rally “misunderstood,” as they were “leaping to their feet” after he made it, according to the New York Post.
To paraphrase Mr Obama, “you can put a media-anointed halo on a political hack…he’s still a political hack.”
And a frightened one at that.
