It’s Obama who is “losing his bearings”

Barack Obama accuses John McCain of “losing his bearings” for simply telling the truth. After all, a top Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef said as much: “. . . we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy. . . .” As Gamal Nkruma notes, “Senator Barack Obama is the favourite US presidential candidate of people in this (Middle East)part of the world.” The mention of John Kennedy is far from accidental. Many hope that his recent pro-Israeli conversion will be discarded once he is president. Kennedy promised Jewish leaders to push for peace but shortly after entering the White House, he agreed to Nasser’s demand that he put the Arab Israeli conflict “on ice.”

But, then, respect is something Barack demands but does not extends. He is a man who dismissed his grandmother as a “typical white person,” his mentor and spiritual advisor(?) as an “old uncle” nobody takes seriously and those who fail to vote for him as bitter individuals who cling to their “guns and religion.”

“You call that a respectful campaign?” Obama rages at McCain. I am surprised he did not argue that Yousef’s words were taken out of context. I am sure he would bristle about any mention of the fact that the church he so generously supported has been a long time advocate of Hamas. But, then, the man who would be president, admitted to having misunderstood his “former” pastor and to claims to have known nothing about what went on in the church he attended for 20 years.

Much has been said about McCain’s age and temper and Hillary’s ruthlessness but it is the soft spoken Obama who has demonstrated all those characteristics. You see, the “young” man is tired and annoyed . He is not used to working hard. He is used to everything coming easy. He is an affirmative action candidate, after all. Even his fans noticed. Gail Collins notes the difference between the stamina of the two democratic candidates:

Hillary — . . . seems prepared, if necessary, to pay with her own money for the privilege of making 10 speeches a day, sleeping four hours a night and answering the same questions over and over again. Barack looks so tired that he seems ready to topple, but if you want to be the most powerful elected official on the planet, you ought to be able to outlast a 60-year-old woman.

and a 71 one year old man who has out campaigned all his Republican opponents. But, then, can you really imaging Barack Obama surviving a POW camp or even a boot camp?

What is becoming clearer and clearer is that young, molly cuddled Obama is cool. For when all said and done, protected first by a loving “typically white” family and then “typically liberal white elites” Obama, not Clinton, suffers from a sense of entitlement. And when he is challenged he loses his bearings and lashes out in a most unbecoming way.
