The Book of Judges records the death of Samson in Gaza. Bound to the columns of a Philistine temple, Samson brought the house down on himself and its occupants, crying, “Let me die with the Philistines.” Yesterday, Samsonian recklessness and despair came straight from the mouth of Hillary Clinton.
After having been leveled flat in Tuesday’s primaries, Hillary unabashedly played the race card, mortally wounding her chances of nomination and putting a major dent in the Democratic party.
In an interview with USA Today, Clinton said: “I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on . . . “ Clinton elaborated that “Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.” Clinton concluded: “there’s a pattern emerging here.”
That was not just some campaign aide talking — that was the candidate herself.
