Obama’s Really Strange Church
By Matthew P. Harrington (bio)

I’ve been a churchgoer all my life.  Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to hear all kinds of preachers.  Some of them have been boring, some exciting, but most have been just simple men or women giving a pretty traditional take on the Gospel.  During all this time, however, I’ve never heard any of them use as much profanity as the ministers who occupy the pulpit at Barak Obama’s church.

This Summer, Take a Permanent Vacation
By Julia Gorin (bio)

The Fox network’s news affiliate in Philadelphia has a tip for Americans who are having a hard time affording summer vacation this year. If you watch this short video, you’ll see they interviewed a very attractive blond lady named Jennifer Doncsecz, president of VIP Vacations. She recommends thinking “outside the box” and going to Egypt, where the American dollar is worth 20 times the Egyptian pound and where, she says, there is an increasing friendliness toward Americans:

Thank You For Not Smoking
By Monica Crowley (bio)

There was a fierce stampede to check out John McCain’s medical records last week. After all, the guy’s 71, suffered for five and a half years tortured and beaten as a prisoner of war, and survived a bout with melanoma. Reporters pored over the reams of medical files and came up with one conclusion:  McCain’s fine.

The High Cost of Betrayal
By Jeff Andrus (bio)

Poor George Bush. Betrayal doesn’t count unless it comes from someone you believe is your friend. No doubt, the President is isolated, as is claimed in the tell-all of his former Press Secretary Scott McClellan. Not many since Lincoln have chosen rivals as advisers.

Albanians Weren’t the First to Steal Serb Organs (Warning: Graphic Images Toward End)
By Julia Gorin (bio)

Carla del Ponte’s allegations that Albanians slaughtered Serbs for their organs aren’t the first to surface about Serbs being used in medical mischief. According to the 2003 statement below, Croatians did it too, in addition to draining Serbs of blood for their Serb-killing paramilitary machine. Vukovar, Croatia, 1991:

The Death of Discretion
By Monica Crowley (bio)

It used to be, back in the day, that those who served their country in high positions, positions of authority and importance, would honor their offices and the office they ultimately served: the presidency.  Even when they may have acted dishonorably in office, they kept the dirty linens to themselves.  That’s what was expected of them, and that’s what they did.

Those non-Serbian Serbian Nationalists!
By Julia Gorin (bio)

So what is it that the U.S. government isn’t telling us when it wants us to think that Serbianationalism is responsible for a high turnout in favor of the Serbian Radical party? Could it be that, rather than Serbianationalists, the problems in Kosovo have something to do with Albanian violence?

Their home countries won’t accept them back!
By Peary Perry (bio)

I’ve noticed that over the years my columns have swung from humorous and satirical to more, shall we say…political. It wasn’t intended to be that way, but during the week while I’m thinking of subjects to write about, the government continues to be a never-ending source of new material which diverts me away from humor.

Usama’s Message: Good Jihadists v. Bad Jihadists
By Walid Phares (bio)

In his latest audio released by as-sahab (media arm of al Qaeda), the organization’s Zaeem (supreme chief) elaborates on the difference between the pure Jihadists and those Islamists who lost their way and determination to continue the fight in the path of the founding fathers, which he calls the “Salaf of Islam.” This complex speech (by Jihadist standards) can be only understood — and thus explained to decision-makers and the public if the listener-analyst is able to grasp the multi-layered world of Jihadism.

“PATRIOT ACT” REPEAL LEADS TO TERROR IN INDIA?
By Judith A. Klinghoffer (bio)

Hillary’s Obama Assassination Fantasy?
By Jerry Bowyer (bio)

This week Hillary gave them what they wanted: she ‘invoked’ (whatever the heck that means) the assassination of Bobby Kennedy. They’ve been waiting for something like this. The blogs have been buzzing for months with what fellow Townhall columnist, Mark Steyn calls, “Obama assassination porn;” that is, detailed fantasies in which Obama is felled by an assassin’s bullet, often in mid-speech.

Memorial Day Paradox

A Dose of Irresponsible Journalism
By Mike Long (bio)

This TIME article about the anti-vaccine movement–complete with scare-headline–is dangerous. By giving a national platform to cranks, TIME is contributing to nothing less than the absolutely preventable maiming and killing of children at the hands of paranoid and uninformed parents. Vaccines save literally millions of lives every year. The science is impeccable–more than impeccable, it is as certain as the sunrise. There may be occasional deaths–and while every death is sad, the connection here is more desperate assertion than fact–but compared to the millions of lives saved, how could anyone rationally reject vaccinations? The anti-vaccine movement is the triumph of ignorance and grief over informed consent, and TIME is making it that much easier for those who are only selectively educated on this to make a deadly choice on behalf of their children.

Memorial Day Muse: How dare we be happy!
By Michael LeGault (bio)

According to a recent poll conducted by the Pew Research Center, almost 85% of Americans believe that they are very happy or at least happy. Eric Wilson uses this insight as a launching pad for his overwrought and simplistic analysis of American culture, contained in his book, Against Happiness: In Praise of Melancholy.

The Greatest Night of your Life?
By Patrick Hurley (bio)

I was trying to take a nap and as usual, I was having trouble falling asleep. So, I began thinking about intellectual questions. Since I am not very deep, I came across a thought that stumped me enough to get out of bed and type it on my computer. What is the Greatest Night of your Life? To make the question even more trickier to answer try to come up with an evening that does not involve your family in any way. Your wedding ceremony, the birth of a child, Valentine’s night with your spouse are all off limits. Let’s make this interesting!

John McCain’s Smart Choice for a Running Mate
By Patrick Hurley (bio)

It is likely that John McCain will be our next President if he is still breathing in November. I mean, he is OLD! But, he is white, safe, grandfatherly looking, vanilla…basically, the perfect set of assets for another boring President. Barack Obama is much more exciting, but let’s face it, he scares the heck out of most people who do not reside in Cuba. He is good-looking, vibrant, exciting, charismatic and once the curtains close behind voters in the red states, he will be the second-place finisher on election night. If…John McCain doesn’t screw up with his choice of a running mate…

Albanian 911 Operator Faces Felony Charges for Illegally Searching State Databases, including Terror Watch List

She says she’s just being singled out because she is a Muslim. And I’m sure that’s true. I’m sure there are plenty of 911 operators illegally searching the terror watch list, and they’re getting off scot-free. It’s Islamophobia, I tell you, and I’m not going to take it anymore!
