Just looking through the Puffington Host (I won’t spell it correctly so it won’t get an additional Google hit, and I won’t link to it so you won’t favor it with traffic) as I used to do on occasion. I’ve stopped almost completely now, and today just underscored why. Don’t get me wrong, I believe people are pretty much trustworthy, but the writers (and especially the commenters) at that site are a collection of mostly privileged individuals who are especially closed-minded, angry, incoherent and most often simply uninterested in facts that do not immediately support their view of the world. It’s not even about ideology anymore with them, it’s about a popularity contest–who can most passionately criticize Obama’s critics, who can say the cleverest and most terrible things about America and George Bush, and who can write the most vulgar dismissals of the half of the American population that calls itself Republican. It’s disheartening that these people are out there; it is sickening that they find such glee in unvarnished hatred.
