Prime Minister of Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goradze has welcomed Iran’s potential investment in his country’s extensively damaged industrial infrastructure.
Restoration of metal and chemical plants demolished during fighting in that country throughtout the mid-1990s (sparked by the dissolution of the former Yugoslavia) are high on Bosnia-Herzegovina’s agenda, said Fars news agency quoting Goradze Premier Salem Halilovi at a gathering of tradesmen and industry owners from Iran’s East Azarbaijan Province at the Tabriz Chamber of Commerce.
Sadeq Najafi who heads the province’s commerce department and was one of the delegates, hailed the prospect of future meetings between Iranian and Bosnian experts.
Goradze Province can be seen as a gateway to the markets of Eastern Europe, he noted.
“Joint investment in industrial projects in Bosnia-Herzegovina and packaging the end products in Iran seems to be a good option for expansion of trade relations between the two sides,” he added.
Najafi also announced plans for marketing Iranian goods in Goradze, exchange of technical and engineering services and opening representative offices of Tabriz factories in this southeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina province.
