Here’s a quick story describing Justice Scalia’s taking to task the media (NY Times in particular) for disingenuously (or maybe ignorantly–sometimes you have to wonder) asserting that the Supreme Court makes policy ad hoc instead of basing their decisions on the law. I read the editorial he mentioned–clearly, Scalia’s right. The NY Times editors portray Scalia and others on the court (even their usual “friends”) as tossing sick people into the street for the joy of watching their teeth chatter. If the Times objects to a Court decision–especially one decided 8-1–they should object to the law, not castigate the judge as lacking compassion. And if they don’t know that, they should take read a #%$^@!! civics book and learn at least what 8th graders know about government. When it comes to intellectual honestly, in this case, the Times editors are the ones playing dirty.
