It is the epitome of common sense–which is why most liberals are against it. And they can make all the excuses they care to muster regarding it: hardship, “racism,” “disenfranchisement,” inconvenience, “undue burden,” even global warming. Not one iota of it will wash. Quite simply, everyone voting in an American election should be required to show a picture ID.
Why would anyone oppose voter ID? Forget the above rationalizations. They are nothing more than a smoke screen obscuring reality: liberals know that winning elections the “old-fashioned way,” aka convincing a majority of Americans their policy positions are superior is virtually impossible.
What to do? Put “double-dipping” in play. Put the “deceased” in play. Put convicted felons in play. And last, but by no means least, put 12-20 million illegals in play.
Illegals alone could literally turn the tide in any national election. Take one percent of the low end figure of 12 million, and you’re looking at 120,000 votes. But that’s only half of it. The estimated population of illegals on a state-by-state basis reveals that California, New York and Texas are the “big three”. They are also the three states with the largest number of electoral votes in the country.
Even scarier is the possibility that 20 million illegals is the low-end number. What if there are twice that many? Remember, politicians in both parties have a vested interest in low-balling the number, otherwise anything resembling amnesty becomes even less attractive than it already is.
I’ll spare you the list of things you can’t do in this country without producing a picture ID. For one thing, most Americans are quite familiar with such realities. For another, it’s a really long list. Those who would exempt voting from it are beyond cynical. For these people, fair and transparent elections are one more American “tradition” to be undermined for the “greater good.”
This summer, the Supreme Court of the United States will decide whether the state of Indiana’s photo ID requirement for voting is an “unnecessary burden.” Chances are what they’ll really be deciding is if American elections should be decided by legitimate American voters–or anyone who happens to show up, regardless of their qualifications.
In a sane country, a picture ID requirement for voting would be a no-brainer. Radio host Michael Savage calls liberalism a “mental disorder.” Here’s hoping at least five members of the Supreme Court of the United States aren’t nuts.
