Ann Coulter’s popularity is a curious phenomenon, but part of the problem can be encapsulated in your phrasing,
“Whenever liberals want to make us look like bigots and mental cases, all they have to do is trot out one of Coulter’s whoppers, and the job is done.”
Who is “us”? Why does one have to be so divisive when it comes to politics?  In Canada, you rarely (at least, I rarely) hear someone call another a “left/right winger” or “liberal/conservative.”  For the most part, we have an exchange of ideas.  The word “liberal” is not a pejorative any more than the word “conservative” is, but some people are hell-bent on making extreme distinctions when people are rarely extreme at all; people are a mixed bag of opinions, few of whom can say they are 100% in line with just one party’s ideals.
Coulter is certainly a curiosity and oddity, but so is the name calling that people use to separate the extreme views of others.
For the record, I’m no fan of Harper, but I know he has done some decent work.  Paul Martin meant well, but I think he was more wishy washy than anything.  I could go on for hours.

I was going to comment yesterday, got distracted, and
then one of the letters in the NP pretty much sums up
my take on your column.  I don’t disagree with much of
what you say, but I think you take her too seriously.
Early on, I enjoyed her often, but of late less so.
“There is no such thing as bad publicity.”  I have
always felt that she was a true believer in that maxim,
whatever her true religious beliefs.  Sometimes one can
see her tongue planted in her cheek, sometimes not.
But she does a lot of trolling to focus attention and
sell books.  I’ve always felt she believes what she
says at some level, then finds an outrageous way to
express it.
I just don’t know in this case, but I don’t especially
care.  I was born into a Methodist family, but gave up
conventional formal religion by my early teens.  After
a mercifully brief anti-religion phase I just ignored
religion.  It was basically good advice dear old Dad
offerred as to not discussing politics and religion
with just anyone!  I haven’t listened to arguments like
she makes in decades.
However, the “religion of peace,” and my age do cause
me to think on it from time to time lately.  That and
the fact that evangelically secularism has become as
harmful as true believers.  The latter has done real
damage to some things I still think are critical, like
family values, which are not actually exclusive to
religious types.  Likewise, some of the other good bits
associated with religion, e.g., Golden Rule, Ten
Commandments, work extremely well without any religious
claims to authority.
She, of course, is nuts if she truly believes that
Christianity historically has clean hands, the witch
burnings were just a few lifetimes ago.  She is, I
suspect, theologically right about the attitude re
“perfection”, BUT that’s one of many things that I
could never stomach: ALL religions feel that way about
the others.  An Islamist would certainly say the same
thing about Jews (not so nicely) and Christians.
She may not see the similarity, but IMHO all religions
are utimately intolerant and view others as “imperfect”
(even “infidels”).  So I guess it should come as no
surprise that evangelically secularists are intolerant,
nor global warming types, etc.  Of course, none think
they are, they think they are right!
So I am left with many interesting questions, and the
knowledge that the true believers don’t have the
answers, the universe being more intriguing than any
sermon (and likewise science fiction).  That’s why I
was attracted to scientific inquiry.  The contemporary
junk science types reveal that even this can be
bastardized, but that has always been true when
politics/ideology have a vested interest in the
outcomes.  I think that type of intolerance is even
more dangerous than religious intolerance, though it
is a tough call.
I was struck by Mark Steyn’s column in Maclean’s, last
week I think (cold civil war?), on the shrinking open
public space for genuine exchange of opposing ideas.
Sure doesn’t exist on campus, that’s why I do look
forward to the NP each morning.  Keep it up!

Hello Mr. Kay:
I just finished reading your column.
I agree that Coulter is hard to take, off the wall, rude and juvenile. (We could both go on I’m sure…..).
But in response to your observation that “I am missing something here”, (regarding her popularity), I do think there’s a very good explanation.
What she represents is the perfect foil, or counter-part if you wish, for the overwhelmingly left-wing media that on a daily basis inundates us with the same shallow, biased and ridiculous rants (news and opinion alike) from the left and hard-left perspective.
The major difference between the two, and their followers, is that most thinking conservatives I know put Coulter in context. This is in stark contrast to the liberal-left elites, who are so smug, so dominant in elite circles, and as a general rule so unchallenged, that they conduct themselves with virtual intellectual impunity. While their (the left’s) arrogance is often more sophisticated in its delivery, (one only has to look at the CBC that takes the gold medal in this regard), their content and messaging is, at least to this conservative, equally if not moreso shallow and biased.  It’s certainly more dangerous since most are incapable of recognizing it for what it is.
Unlike Steyn, O’Rourke, Frum and so many other  fine conservative intellectuals, Coulter will surely quickly be forgotten. But in the meantime, she serves as an important push-back and someone who many fed-up ordinary folk look to for relief from the never-ending politically correct, liberal propaganda that floods their living rooms every night.

Some people suspect that Coulter, like Stephen Colbert, is actually playing
a character. By appearing so ultra-conservative, she satirizes the people
she claims to be championing. Conservatives don’t get it, because they can’t
understand it. Conservatives think “Wow, she is saying what we are all
thinking.”, and Liberals are thinking “Wow, she is exposing the GOP for what
it really is.”
Some claim she is a post-op transsexual, citing the the adam’s apple and the
huge hands as evidence.
Since I have met many people worse than Coulter in real life, I think she is
a genuinely evil monster bent on Hitler-style fascism, but that is just me.

Mr.Kay is either being deliberately obtuse, or simply provocative if he
wants us to believe that Ann Coulter is being malicious when she
suggests that Jews can be “perfected”. The principle of “perfection” is
an ancient Jewish process that describes the change from grasping for
justification to doing what is God’s will. This was amply described by
the Jewish followers of the rabbi Jesus in the New Testament. Mr Kay
needs to do some more homework before attempting to tell us what Ann
Coulter really had in mind when she used this phrase, because he was way
off the mark in trying to tell us that she meant something hateful in
wishing for Jews to be “perfected”.
For Mr Kay’s benefit, here is an example of a teaching on perfection,
drawn from the Jewish faith: “If perfection could have been attained
through the Levitical priesthood, why was there still need for another
priest to come — one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of
Aaron?” (Hebrews 7:11) There’s many more examples, but I include this
one to encourage Mr.Kay to resist the urge to slam someone who wishes
him well. It’s unbecoming for a prominent editor to be such a curmudgeon!
Mr.Kay could also spend some time learning about other cultures to
appreciate their sometimes extreme humor. Ann Coulter oftens says things
that are just not true like calling Al Gore names, or saying the country
would be better off if women didn’t vote, but that’s what political
comedians do. I really think she’s being kind and humorous toward Gore -
she calls him a “total fag”, but I’d call him a fake, a charlatan, and a
pompous BS artist.
Mr.Kay is being a miserable grump but, hey, there’s still room for
perfecting the man. He should, as they say, get over it - and enjoy the
humour! It’s almost as good as the Trailer Park Boys.

Ann Coulter has been recently vilified for her comments regarding Christianity on a cable show.  As usual, the hype is all DUHmocat/liberal-based and without merit.  In case you have heard and wondered what the real story is.. here’s a couple worthy columns on the subject.  I, of course, support everything Ann has ever said or written, and consider her the ultimate woman of my dreams! Intelligent, articulate, and right about everything.  I assert that hose who disagree, simply don’t understand.  Perhaps reading these two columns will shed some light on just one the subjects on which she’s been misunderstood.
Seriously, read these two columns then respond to me.  I think you’ll find yourself thinking “ooops” because you couldn’t be more wrong.  You’re misinterpreting everything Ann is about and everything the conservatives are about.

I  used to listen to Glenn Beck until I found out that she is his heroine. I sent him an email commenting on the fact that he shouldn’t let her write for his program, a few days later he spent time praising her for some comment…she is the poster child of the ugly American, Don Imis was nailed for an insulting comment(which paled by comparison when compared to Rapp music)She’s one sick puppy,I am surprised that someone hasn’t taken a shot at her. You are right regarding her demeaning comments where she then passes it off as humour.
I am particularly incensed at her comments about Canada, to me it show she is totally ingnorant about her neighbours north of her but then Glenn Beck is in the same cataegory. One of these days she will cross the line, hopefully in an SUV in front of a Peterbilt…..

Your denunciation of Anne Coulter is most regrettable. Through her irony she
is expressing a lot of what most people are uncomfortable to say, because
that would be politically incorrect. Most people, especially journalists,
are too cautious about political correctness.  I call that, soft
conservatism.  To say things as they really are has the possibility of
offending someone.  Worshiping at the alter of political correctness is
deplorable. Ms. Coulter is my hero in her boldness and let the public who
can’t stand to hear the truth be damned.

Hi, I just enjoyed reading your article. The best thing that all persons possible should do is, as much as is possible, ignore Ann Coulter totally, As a retired teacher I recognize well the symptoms. She is a “spoiled child” always demanding attention because of low self esteem. For a person such as her even negative attention or reaction is better than being ignored totally. She is obviously addicted to noteriety. Some people never escape adolescence!

In pointing out that Christians “just want Jews to be perfected,”Ann Coulter is biblically correct. Coulter is controversial, but in this case she is affirming what we read in the Word of God. ….
“Thou shalt be the father of a multitude of nations. I will establish My covenant between Me and
thee  and thy seed after thee for an everlasting covenant. And I will give unto thee, and to thy
seed after thee, all the land of Canaan for an everlasting  possession” (Genesis 17:4,7,8).
In Controversy of Zion, author Claude Duvernoy  writes, “History is guided by the Creator in spite of man and in spite of politicians. The policy of the Kingdom of God circles around the resettltment of Israel in its Promised Land. Jerusalem, its capital. is its heart and magnetic centre.”
It was the religious leaders of the nation that played the key role in the rejection of Jesus Christ and His offer of the theocratic Kingdom. Christ Himself foretold Israel’s rejection of Him. In The Foundations of Faith, Dr. Renald Showers addresses the question, what if Israel had believed the gospel of the Kingdom and repented when Jesus Christ was here? Dr. Showers answers, “If the nation would have acclaimed Christ as its King, the Roman government would have regarded this as the beginning of a revolt and undoubtedly would have crucified Him. Then Christ would have risen from the dead and established God’d theocratic Kingdom on Earth. God postponed the establishment of that Kingdom until Christ’s Second Coming when the nation of Israel of that day will believe.”
This has not yet occurred. Israel has been returning to the Land since 1948, but not in belief. Individual ews are receiving the Messiah as their Saviour and Lord and becoming Messianic or “perfected” Jews. It is not until the nation of Israel accepts Jesus Christ at His Second Coming that  national Israel will be restored. It is not until Jews accept their Messiah as Saviour and Lord individually or nationally that they become complete or “perfected.”
“….and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as
one mourneth for his only son” (Zechariah 12:10).

Many many thanks for your well-written article, “The Disgrace of Ann Coulter.” Until last week, I really hadn’t paid much attention to her, though I’ve known her name for many years. I had simply thought she was another conservative mouthpiece (so, someone I normally would not pay attention to), but after researching her a bit, I see that I have been painfully asleep at the wheel. She is atrocious, and media outlets should be ashamed of themselves for their complicity in her rise to fame. I’m willing to bet (as you imply) that it happened because she’s a looker. She so thoroughly does not deserve the credibility she has been afforded. But if none of her other past utterances haven’t been her undoing, what will be?

would never be elected, and about some of the 9/11

Amen to your article.  Conservatives and women should be embarrassed by the words coming out of Ms. Coulter’s mouth.  If she didn’t wear dresses and skirts cut shorter than the Ally McBeal mini and use sex appeal, she would’ve been condemned long ago.  She admittedly uses her womanhood  to get what and where she wants (“I am emboldened by my looks to say things Republican men wouldn’t”) yet she never would have had that opportunity had women like Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, among many others, not broken from the conservative reigns of society.  I am not a conservative nor a liberal; I am a party of one in my own political party: The Realist Party.  And in my party, I vote for the best person for the job.  Ann Coulter is a complete disgrace to this country and a despicable representation to every American citizen that has and will exist.  Perhaps she would be happiest as a member of the KKK.  Then she and David Duke could be the best of friends.

I watched Donny Deutch interview Anne Coulter and was struck by the impression that she is not to be taken seriously.  Yes, she revels in the juvenile desire to cause shock.  Her mentality is the waste of a quick mind, but the shocking, infantile, irrational things she says don’t nearly match those coming from Muslims with their death threats to anyone who offends their ultra-sensitive sensitivities or doesn’t embrace Islam and all the intolerance that goes with it, their infantile demands for respect while behaving like bloody morons, that we in lands into which they have immigrated - to escape the mess caused by their belief system in Islamic lands - accept Shariah Law, etc, so why not give them a taste of what you’ve given Ann Coulter and ridicule the drivel that vacuously spews out of their mouths?

I read your recent column on Ann Coulter.  I suppose you have to fill up each week’s issue with a certain amount of words, but in this case, your point was silly.
Ann Coulter is a national treasure, in my view.  Anyone who gets the liberals so upset and apoplectic almost by definition can’t be all bad.  But she is a great humorist and is carrying on the noble tradition of another great humorist from the city where I live, Baltimore, Maryland.
I’m referring to Henry Louis Mencken, who had a good nose for hookum and bunkum in his time.  Ann Coulter is carrying on his tradition of skewering puffed-up, self-important, humorless feminists, liberals, global warmers, secular Jewish liberals who pretend to be observant Jews, and columnists who spend their time being offended.

Jonathan Kay, who purports to be a conservative, encourages his
readers to watch a clip of Ann Coulter on youtube so that we may witness
her “ideological fury”. Mr. Kay could have also suggested that we
read a few of the outrageous and hateful comments posted on that same clip by
the fanatical left who will sink to any level in an effort to defame and demonize
conservative pundits.
The talking points in Mr. Kay’s column echo the hateful rhetoric of
America’s drive-by media and websites such as moveon.org who attempt to silence
dissenting opinion by taking seemingly innocuous comments and twisting them out
of shape in an effort to demonize and marginalize the political right.
America is still a free country where opposing points of view are
protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution, accordingly, Ms. Coulter is entitled
to her opinions regardless of whether they offend “conservatives” such as Canada’s
Jonathan Kay.

As a traditional libertarian/social republican, I thoroughly enjoyed your
Coulter piece today.
As for why some individuals, myself included, shun many conservative
positions today in favour of ones that lean slightly to the left — despite
our belief in individualism and responsibility — I offer a column I wrote a
year ago on the subject. I found it an interesting exercise, and thought you
might as well.
I suspect a defining influence in American conservatism has been the “Willie
Horton” effect; Republicans adapted more willingly to the concept of
attacking their opponents for maximum electoral impact and, when combined
with the dangerously close ties between being a traditionalist and an
unswervingly orthodox individual who just can’t change his mind, the
American right has simply strayed too far from what small-c conservative
values were really about.

P.s. One of Coulter’s noted hobbies is reading up on serial killers. You
might consider that she’s a broadcaster who, if judged merely by her public
statements, fits the description of the “sociopath in the boardroom.” There
are quite a few in broadcasting, I reckon.

I am one of those strange people who like to read Ann Coulter.  I
also like to read O’Rourke, Steyn and Kay!    I think she vocalizes
what a lot of people are thinking.  She certainly represents a
conservative viewpoint, and in this media world, conservative
viewpoints are few and far between.  Certainly she is outspoken, but
people deliberately goad her and try to get her to make an outrageous
statement, so they can then say “How outrageous, should not be
allowed!”  I live in a very multicultural city (Edmonton), and I am
happy here.  Nevertheless, I just got back from a week long trip to
Branson, Mo, and to my great surprise, everyone,  and I mean
everyone, was white.  Do you know, it felt good to me, a caucasian,
to be among white people.  In our Canada it seems to be fine for
other nationalities to live in ethnic groups, vote as a group, etc.
but white people are not allowed to do that.  I notice that some
developer is making a housing development for muslims only.  Can you
imagine the outrage of the media, if some caucasian developer or
Christian developer, or Jewish developer, began to build housing for
their own group?  My taxi driver from the Springfield airport to
Branson was not a surly Arab, but a pleasant blonde lady who offered
to show us a few highlights of Branson before she dropped us off (it
was a flat rate).  She went out of her way to make us feel welcome
and we really appreciated that.
I can just see you thinking “racist, racist” but not at all.  One of
the pastors of our church is black and I love him dearly.  Also our
congregation is a mixture of every nationality and I happily worship
there.  But I/m just saying white people live in Canada too, and
should not have to always adapt to other cultures when often they
refuse to adapt to ours - the move to eliminate the word “Christmas”
is a good example.

Dear Mr. Kay:
Perhaps you don’t care for Ms Coulter because you are a liberal.  I have
read many of your columns and the overall editorial slant of the NP, and
while you occaisionally (mostly recently) seem to support and promote
conservative issues to some degree, for the most part you seem to be more
(GTA)Liberal.
I see more bastardization of free speech and freedom of the press, by the
liberal based media, than I do by pundits such as Ann Coulter or other
conservative personalities.  The difference is that Ann Coulter does not
pretend she is reporting the news.  What she does do is often bait self
righteous, sanctimonious  liberal media types (like Donny Deutsch).
Ann Coulter is a bright woman.  She could have a detailed coversation on
policy if she chose.  What Ms. Coulter does is make sure she is heard and
also takes away the ability of the media to define her.  If they are going
to call her an extreme right winger, then by gosh she’ll make sure she ramps
up the hyperbole just so they know that this line of attack is not going to
blunt her style or cow her in any way.  Like it or not Anne Coulter has
figured out how to handle the liberal media  and get her message out to a
wide audience relatively uncluttered by liberal spin - so they are left to
call her names, like you did today.
I think most conservatives can see through the entertainment factor (bait
liberals) and see the broader points she makes in her arguements.
Now if you want to talk about disgrace, lets talk about the move to have
Rush Limbaugh censored by the Democrats (Hillary and Barrack  included) for
his comments on phoney soldiers.  Forty-one of them sent a letter demanding
the “repudiation” of their inaccurate interpretation of hiscomments about
Jesse Al-Zaid (a.k.a. Jesse MacBeth) and other “phony soldiers” who falsify
their service records.
These are not pundits, these are congressmen and women deliberately lying
to try to silence one of their critics - and the media supports them rather
than castigates them.  That - not Ann Coulter - is a disgrace and is far
more damaging that anything she says or does.

I write this letter with some hesitation because I understand that the written word does not always communicate as well as one would hope, and also because I have the pleasure of knowing your mother and her fine work. I would hate to do anything that offends her or, by extension, anyone near and dear to her. I was married to a child holocaust survivor (deceased), and I am a supporter of Israel.  With that very defensive prelude, I will state that I do not think that Ann Coulter is a disgrace.  Part of what I admire about her is that she has no corporate affiliation that I know of to rein in or shape her expressed opinions.  While I have not read any of her books yet, I do subscribe to her newsletter.  I saw her on Bill O’Reilly last night being interviewed about the Deutsch interview.  I support her reminding people that North America has a Christian heritage that should be honored as other countries honor their own histories.  I do not think that it is anti-semitic to state that she wishes that all people were Christian.  This is part of the evangelical faith.  Similarly, I do not mind that muslims might think everyone should be muslim  or that they attempt to evangelize as long as they do not try to force their beliefs on me by the sword of allah, including terrorist acts.  Muslims believe that there was a further revelation that makes islam “perfected” over other religions.  I do not accept that belief, but I don’t begrudge their expression of that belief, whether I think it false or delusional.  Multiculturalism is based on, among other curiosities, relativism which inevitably comes into conflict with the absolutes of religious values.  If I believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and if I love my fellow human being, I am going to want to share that idea with them.  That is an absolute value clashing with the relativism of the belief that every religion is equally good.  This clash can become somewhat of a marketplace of ideas with the possibility of the most useful ideas gaining ascendance.   Ideas are not immune to the survival of the fittest, in my view.  In order for this marketplace of ideas to flourish, people like Ann Coulter should not be shamed or shushed.      Regards, Marty

she has a religious belief that’s her business

I’m always surprised that such people call themselves Christians. I’m no Biblical scholar but any basic reading of what Jesus said in the Bible looks nothing like the venom that Coulter spits. Sadly, I don’t think Coulter could continue without many Americans sharing her views.
I liked the thing CBC did on her on the Fifth Estate when she insisted that Canada fought alongside the U.S. in the Vietnam War. The truth didn’t dissuade her from her views at all. She just ignored it.

If it wasn’t for people like Anne Coulter, the US would be drowning in a sea of Ultra-Left wing media bias, just like we are in Canada.
At least the US has the first amendment, or SP’s like you would have legislated her silence there as they have with many in this country already.
All she speaks is the truth, maybe juiced up a bit in order to provoke indignant columnists like you. But deal with it. The thoughts may not be PC, but they are real and mostly valid.
In a rare moment of even handedness, the CRTC deigned to allow us to see the subversive Fox News Channel, the CBC and others of your ilk decried the end of civilization as we know it, but guess what happened, we finally got a tiny bit of truth in media, even if it is strictly US based, at least some of the moral issues translate well to this Country. No other source is providing the counter to the left propaganda we are constantly subject to in this spineless country. Even so-call “Conservative” papers do not have the balls to confront the issues that matter to most people, and as a result, people like Michael Coren (he rocks as well) are suppressed for not towing the line.

Ann isn’t a joke my friend, you are. I’m sorry that you and the rest of the liberal media have no way of stopping her. The image of a beautiful, blond women was always pigeon holed as a ditsy dumb person, an image people like you and the liberal media created. I’m so sorry that in a ghost busters-like fashion, you have chosen your own destructor. Ann will continue to sell books, a lot of books, and expose the extremely left, and extremely Jewish stronghold on the media. She is a strong Christian and is not ashamed to speak of Christianity fully, without using soft language and tip-toeing around as to not offend someone. So get your laundry list of all her “evil” statements, write your little column, and enjoy you mediocre contributions to the media which will never compare to Ann’s.

Opinion columnists such as yourself already enjoy too large a ration of free speech.  It is hazardous of that ration for you to use it to call for the silencing of other opinion columnists whose column you don’t publish anyway.  If you are going to call for the silencing of another opinion columnist, call for the silencing of a left-wing opinion columnist.  At least that would be constructive.
I don’t get The Simpsons or The Family Guy. I do get Ann Coulter.  She is a polemicist, and I find her argumentation hilarious.  She has made all the right enemies, as far as I am concerned.
I watched the Coulter/Deutch episode when it first appeared.  If Deutch believed in his Judaism as Coulter believes in her Christianity, he would have recognized in himself a mirror image of the opinion Coulter expressed.  A sincere believer in Christianity must believe that Christianity is the fulfillment of, and therefore superior to, Judaism; likewise a sincere believer in Judaism must believe that Christianity is in error.
Coulter may not have been as exquisitely precise philosophically as the point she expressed demanded.  In conversation, she attributed to Deuch, the person, the defect, as she sees them, in his beliefs; she should have made clear the defect is in his beliefs rather that in himself as a person.  A fine point, but it can be the difference between a personal insult and the point of argument that she was trying to make. Deutch is a coarse thinker, and felt the insult rather than the force of the argument.
Apparently, you did too.

You are so very wrong about Ann Coulter, and your leftwing loonie bashing is a disgrace to the National Post.  You lefties purport not to understand why Ann is so popular, but, in reality, it is because you don’t want to hear the truth.
That is, you lefties are trying to ruin our country with your anti-Chritian, gay support, immorality, pro-criminal and no accountability for personal or government actions.  Liberals/Dems are so scared that people like Ann, who are not politically correct, but, correct nonetheless, will expose the Liberal biases that are ruining Canada/USA. I think that tells you all you need to know. In a world of 24 hour “news” and “infotainment” blah-blah-blah, Coulter’s ravings stand out which is very profitable for her and the networks/publishers/handlers she’s connected with. The more outrageous, the more cash. Coulter’s challenge is to ensure today’s statements are even nuttier than yesterday’s (so we don’t get bored with her) . Eventually she’ll cross an arbitrary “acceptable” line - or run out of things to say- and start to cost people money - just like Don Imus did - and she’ll be gone.
I wonder who’s making the money off of Coulter?

Obviously you are missing something. I’ve am a Coulter fan – for full disclosure.
This is what happens when you don’t understand the subject you are writing about. For example, her statement about the 9/11 harpies was made in response to the habit of Democrats getting the wounded and hurt to front for them because they could not be attacked. If this needs further explanation then you really don’t have a grasp of the subject.
When you pluck a quote without explaining the context, you are guilty of misleading your readers – which you are doing in this article.
Let me demonstrate the difference. Bill Clinton is a perjurer, liar, and sexual pervert. I suspect everyone except Democrats, 95% of Canadians and perhaps even you might refute the statement, having erased from memory all the events that confirm my statement.
Coulter wrote a book “How to talk to a liberal, if you must” (or something like that). Read it. The best defense is a good offence.  You will find that the best defense is a good offence when dealing with the left. Believe me, the left is never offended. They may get angry, but they are never offended.
Now, on the subject of religion. I don’t agree with all of Coulter’s religious views. However, the last I looked, her views are no more extreme than those held by some atheists, Moslems, or any other religions. So there’s no crime there. Besides, do you want to throw the baby out with the bathwater?
On the topic of Deutsch, here you have a hard left liberal trying to take down a hard right icon. What would you expect? Remember, the best defense is a good offence. Ya’ gotta keep the left off balance. They are too well rehearsed in debating techniques & would make mince meat of any opponent. Bear in mind that a debate is never about establishing right or wrong. It’s about who can put forth the best argument. So Ann fights back with statements that leave the left dumbfounded.
Personally, I love it when the left gets it back in spades!

I am disappointed you wrote what you did because it shows a deep prejudice. What she said may be taken as a slight if you really want to find justification for a slight, but if you objectively look at her whole sentence and the context even a fifth grader would know and understand she was in no way demeaning Judaism.
Evey Christian on this planet exists because of the Covenant of Abraham and the presence of the Savior Jesus, a Jew. To imply that any practicing Christian can ever slight a Jew and be a Christian in doing so is an absolute falsehood. That is like removing the heart and expecting the paient to live. Not going to happen. As we say in the South that is the kettle calling the pot black.
God has unfilled covenant promises with the Jews and for Hs Word’s sake He shall fulfill them. The Torah and Bible are both very clear on this. the difference is that we Christians believe we know his name. Both groups know He is coming and He is the Savior.
Any real Christian knows Judaism is the light and lamp of the darkened world. If Judaism fails Christianity has no basis either. Given this proper predicate Ann’s statements are consistent with truth and tolerance and faith.

think she is funny and uncomfortably honest in her wild comments. I
guess it’s ok to insult Christians and conservatives but heaven
