There is a new kind of “American” attempting to impose his worldview on the country. He is one for whom such concepts as loyalty, patriotism and ethics are more often impediments to success than ingredients for it. Countries–entities defined by traditions, language, culture and borders–are anachronisms. The world is one giant marketplace, it workers one giant labor force, and the only thing that matters is the bottom line.
Such “Americans” are quite powerful. They sit on corporate boards of several different companies, all of which contribute to the coordination of the global economy. Whether such coordination accrues to America’s benefit is irrelevant.
Their contempt for the average American is palpable. That’s why it doesn’t matter that the overwhelming majority of the public opposes comprehensive immigration reform. An under-educated, illegal immigrant workforce which can drive down the cost of labor is “good business.” If the American people don’t like it? The hell with them, they don’t count. If the politicians don’t like it? The campaign contribution spigot gets turned off.
How far are these “Americans” willing to go? Largely under the radar (who do you think controls most of the media?) a business deal is underway that I suspect most Americans would find repugnant. It concerns the merger of an American company, 3com, with a Chinese one, Huawei Technologies.
What’s the big deal? From Saturday’s Washington Times: “Huawei Technologies, has been linked to illegal high-tech exports to Saddam Hussein’s regime and the supply of telecommunications equipment to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. Huawei wants to join with 3Com, which provides the Pentagon and the Army with intrusion-detection equipment to keep hackers out. The deal follows a July computer attack on the Pentagon that U.S. intelligence officials say involved Chinese military hackers who were found breaking into (among other things) a system close to Defense Secretary Robert Gates.”
In other words, “American” businessmen are willing to sell globally ambitious Chinese Communists a company whose technology protects our nations defense networks. An unnamed Pentagon official: “…we are proposing to sell the PLA [the People’s Liberation Army, as the Chinese military is called] a key to our front door. This is a very dangerous trend.”
Dangerous? How about TREASONOUS?
Not only that, but incestuous as well. Who scrutinizes the deal? The Treasury Department. Who put the deal together? The investment and banking company Goldman Sachs. Current Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson? Former Goldman Sachs CEO. White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten? Former Goldman Sachs employee.
For the record, Mr. Paulson has recused himself from the government review. So what? This deal needs to be squashed like a cockroach. And what the United States government needs to “scrutinize” is the cabal of elitist, internationalist cockroaches for whom the interests of our nation have become an afterthought in the quest for another payday.
Get loud and angry on this one, my fellow Americans–just like you did with illegal immigration. Those who would peddle our national security to the highest bidder have earned their time in the limelight.
