One of the Rutgers basketball players from l’affaire Imus is suing the radio host for unspecified monetary damages. Here’s hoping a judge somewhere tosses this thing out right off, and very publicly upbraids the player and her lawyer who, in my opinion, are sleazy for manufacturing such garbage about the player’s loss of self-esteem. Hey–when somebody calls you names, you don’t go to court. You either wave it off like an adult or retaliate like a child by calling names back. But no, this young female (I’m being accurate here by not using the word “adult”–because her behavior does not warrant it) believes that a lawsuit is the answer. This case isn’t about dignity. It’s about gold-digging. And it demonstrates how fouled up some Americans’ sense is about what the justice system is for.
