Here’s a surprise: the otherwise reliable Daniel Henninger of WSJ produces an intellectually dishonest attack on conservative opponents of illegal immigration. He disingenuously posits his opponent’s position as a Hobson’s choice between the rule of law and the wisdom of the market. The Journal’s failure to engage their opponents (especially the gang at National Review) is the first time I can recall the seriously smart guys at the Journal running from a debate and, even worse, offering little more than name-calling to thoughtful arguments.
In fact, I think there must be miscommunication somewhere. I simply refuse to believe that the Journal’s thinkers don’t agree that this debate needs to occur.
