As another season of 24 draws to a close, I feel the need to share some of my thoughts and feelings on the show.
Could CTU make WORSE perimeters? Every season bad guys get away, not once, not twice, but usually upwards of three times. Be it Marwan, Fayed or Cheng, these guys seem to have no issue evading large groups of CTU agents and disappearing into the night. Through secret passages, sewer tunnels, or just in giant humvees (satellite tracking anyone?). All this is to say CTU::Perimeters as Water::Sieve.
The Russian nuclear defense codes are stored on a single piece of hardware (”circuitry”). As Seth and Amy would say Really?! Russia. You thought it was a good idea to make one piece of hardware the linchpin to your entire defense system. Really. And after tying all your systems to one sub-circuit board you didn’t think to change up the protocol after the nukes they were integral to were “destroyed”. Really. And, as a nuclear power in the world, you are incapable of any sort of reprogramming or work around to this problem. Really?! I’m no defense specialist, but this whole plot line seems a little out there.
Powers Boothe. Who? My friends, that’s the real name of the actor that plays Vice President Noah Daniels. I don’t know how I didn’t catch that until last night. But holy crap, that’s the best name ever. I won’t make the obvious joke here…
Magic cell phones. Isn’t it funny how CTU is housed in a “secure” (ha) concrete bunker yet everyone’s cell phone gets great service? I can’t even get reception in a freaking elevator and these people are like texting for their horoscopes from their work stations.
A prediction. Call me crazy, but I’ve had a a hunch all season that Josh is actually Jack’s son. Add in all the weird sexual tension between Marilyn and Jack and you have a recipe for a one night stand about…oh…16 years ago.
