AdFreak posts what may be the final salvo in the whole politically correct ad protests that started not too long ago with the GM assembly line robot faux-suicide. I say “final” because this one is just so ABSURD that I hope we’ve been pushed to the brink of tolerance for people with these stupid complaints aimed the most innocuous of ads. (Wishful thinking I know…)
Check out a letter to the editor of the Virginia Pilot from a one, Mella of Chesapeake. In it, Mella takes a whack at the Geico caveman ads, asserting that they condone prejudice as long as the group of peoples (or homo habilis as it were) aren’t around any longer. Referencing the Civil Rights struggle, Mella notes, “It takes little imagination to hear other names substituted for ‘caveman’ in these commercials.” Um, WHAT? Is this for real? What else would we call them? Mella, you crazy cat…
Don’t expect Geico to bend over on this one, there is a sitcom in the works for the Cavemen. As AdFreak jokes that Mella’s tome on that will be “written in her own blood.”
