The economy is purring along, the stock market hits new highs daily, and 95.6 per cent of Americans are employed. But if the Left attains power in the upcoming midterms, they will raise taxes, effectively ending the very favorable economic environment in which we find ourselves. This is just one example that helps makes clear that the midterm election is a choice between the common sense of the Republicans and the nonsense of the Democrats.
People are more free in America than at anytime in history, blogging their opinions at will, calling radio shows with viewpoints spanning the entire political spectrum, publishing ideas that go from far left to far right. Yet, to the Left, we live in a Nazi-like police state under President George W. Bush, with his freedom-crushing Patriot Act and NSA spying program, both designed, by the way, to catch terrorists.
The programs the president put into place are there to protect us and they have. At last count the number of times we’ve been hit since 9/11 is holding at zero. Again, common sense vs.nonsense.
Clearly, the Left does not appreciate what happens in a police state when opposition to the leader is voiced, as it is throughout our own country every minute of every day. In police states, they kill you, no questions asked. If, in fact, we lived in such a state, as the Left has convinced itself we do, then many who worked or wrote for The Huffington Post would have been “apprehended” on May 10, 2005 — the second day of its existence.
Iraq isn’t an easy war but who said war was easy? War is oppositional. Republicans know that we must beat the forces of Islamofascism in the heart of the Middle East and not wait complacently for another attack on our soil. But being passive, indeed timid, is the de facto Democratic “plan” (after, of course, we cut and run!). So, the choice is the modify-and-win strategy of the Republicans or the quit-and-appease plan of the Left. Common sense vs.nonsense.
Would having Nancy Pelosi — with her vitriolic, Hugo Chavez-like, anti-Bush invective –as Speaker of the House be good for a country at war? Oh, that’s right, it’s an “illegal” war and Ms. Pelosi should be expected to admonish the president over it, right? Then why hasn’t she criticized Hillary Clinton for her continued support of this illegal war? ‘Nuff said. Pelosi as a partisan attack dog is exactly what America does not need during wartime.
Would John Conyers, readying his gavel for immediate impeachment proceedings against the president, help or hurt our war effort? Of course, it would be damaging to the country. (Could al Qaeda, ever have imagined better allies than the American Left?) Would raising taxes during this period of prosperity, as Charles Rangel is chomping at the bit to do, be good for an already booming economy? I don’t see how.
Clearly, it would be better if control of Congress remained with Republicans who understand the very real threat we face and the necessity of absolute victory over those who want us dead. While the GOP is at war with Islamofascism, the Left is at war with…Bush! Common sense vs.nonsense.
The American people are not stupid, though the leftist elites think they are. Americans understand that they have a choice between Republicans who recognize that long-term peace comes through strength and the Democrats who unrealistically believe, deep down, that “war is not the answer.” Common sense vs.nonsense.
Given the choice on election between common sense vs. nonsense, my sixth sense says that the intelligent and intuitive American people choose to keep the sober and sane Republicans in power.
