Hypocrite, Liar and Pedophile! What more can I say about a man who is alleged to have privately solicited minors for sex over the internet, whilst he was publicly working on legislation to stop sexual predators. How could Congressman Foley have looked Mark Lunsford and John Walsh in the eye as they worked together on legislation to prevent further child molestation?
In one text to a teen, Foley is alleged to have referred to time they spent together in San Diego. Certainly, the local prosecutor will interview the young man to determine the nature of any contact he had with Foley and his age at the time. In another message, Foley is alleged to have asked a youth whether he made him feel “horny” and in another, whether the boy was in “his boxers” and that he should “strip down and get relaxed.”
If Foley did send these emails, he could be prosecuted for a host of state and federal charges including solicitation of a minor for sex using the internet and potentially face civil liability too. Ironically, Foley credits himself in campaign literature for enhancing civil penalties for victims of molestation.
As for blaming his alcoholism, Mr Foley is clearly using a tired excuse that deserves no empathy. If rehab is what he wants and these allegations are true, send him to an inpatient center for sexual deviancy, not alcohol, and teach Foley to stay away from boys. What a perversion of the page program on Capitol Hill, designed to give teens a taste of politics, not sexual predators. Sadly for Republicans in Palm Beach, it is too late to take Mark Foleys name off the upcoming ballot, despite his resignation.
